Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1954 Chevrolet Corvette roadster is an older restoration that was owned by the same family for the last 40 years. According to the selling dealer, it was displayed at the GM transmission plant in Toledo, Ohio on June 29, 1992, as part of the festivities commemorating the one-millionth Corvette being produced and was featured at GM's headquarters during the parade celebrating the milestone. Power is supplied by a 235ci  Blue Flame inline-6 and sent to the road through a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. In addition to the triple Carter carburetors being rebuilt, the battery, brake hoses, wheel cylinders, and certain ignition components have been replaced. Refinished in Polo White with a Beige soft top over a Red vinyl interior, this second-year Corvette is available now and comes with a pouch containing the removable side windows and a clear title.

EXTERIOR - FEATURES

The fiberglass body was refinished in Polo White as part of an older restoration and features headlamp cages, front bumperettes, bright trim and badging, a driver-side mirror, and dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear bodywork. A body-color fiberglass tonneau cover conceals the Beige soft top. According to the selling dealer, the doors, trunk lid, and hood line up as they should, but a few paint chips have been touched up, pitting is visible in the chrome accents, and the top shows signs of aging.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

The red wheels have full covers with knock-off-style center caps and come wrapped in whitewall tires.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The two-seat passenger compartment is furnished with red vinyl bucket seats, faded red carpeting, red and Polo White door panels, and a matching dashboard. Features include vinyl floor mats, a clock, chrome trim, and an AM radio. The finished red trunk contains a tire iron and a pouch that holds the removable side windows.

INTERIOR - GAUGES

Vehicle information is displayed on a 140-mph speedometer, 5K-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the coolant temperature, fuel level, battery, and pressure. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 61K miles, but the actual mileage on the car is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power from the 235ci Blue Flame inline-6 is routed through a Powerglide two-speed automatic and the rear wheels. According to the selling dealer, the car was recently serviced by Classic Coachworks. The fluids were changed, the three Carter carburetors were rebuilt, and a new battery and ignition components were installed.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Other new parts include the brake hoses and front and rear wheel cylinders.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The seller has posted a video below showing exterior and interior tours and the car starting and idling. The sale includes a pouch containing the removable side windows.

Someone asked for photos of the top and storage area. The top was never used since the car was only driven on nice day . Top is very old, but it's all there. Also provided is a photo of the stamp pad showing the genuine Corvette stamping "F54YH".
