Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1975 Triumph TR6 is a British roadster that has received over $5,000 in maintenance over the past three years and is powered by a 2.5-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Within the last 10K miles, work was performed on the ignition system, fuel system, brakes, seals, suspension, and more. Finished in Delft Blue over a Shadow Blue vinyl interior, this TR6 is now offered with service records from the current and prior owners, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust factory record certificate, a Haynes Weber carburetor manual, uninstalled extra hoses, a Pioneer head unit manual, a fire extinguisher, a tonneau cover, and a clear California title in the seller’s name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

This rust-free 1975 TR6 has been in California since 2005. The reportedly original Delft Blue finish shows some spider cracks, pitting, and touch-ups as shown in the photo carousel to the right. Features include chrome bumpers, rubber guards, a snap-on top boot, and a trunk-mounted luggage rack.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

The original steel 15-inch wheels with polished trim rings are wrapped in Epic Tour A/S radial tires that have 3K miles on them.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The two-seat interior is equipped with rebuilt Shadow Blue vinyl bucket seats, matched to the door panels and carpeting. The dash face is covered with a woodgrain fascia. Additional amenities include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo, a heater, and floor mats.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Smiths-branded instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 80K miles, which the seller states is an accurate figure.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The 2.5-liter inline-six is fed by dual rebuilt carburetors and was rated at 106 horsepower when new. The seller has logged the maintenance history under prior and current prior ownership. Within the last 10K miles, the fuel pump, electronic ignition, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel filter, alternator belt, clutch master and slave cylinders, and additional parts have been replaced. Most recently, the motor received an oil change, fresh differential fluid, a new rear crank seal, and new gaskets and seals for the oil pan and front timing cover. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission, which is equipped with a new clutch fork, taper pin, and pivot rod.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Stopping power comes from disc brakes up front and drums in the rear. The braking system received an overhaul within the last 10K miles that involved the rear drums being resurfaced; the replacement of the front rotors, calipers, and pads; and the installation of new rear brakes, wheel cylinders, and brake hoses. The suspension has been similarly refurbished with a front-end rebuild and replacement front shock absorbers, coil springs, upper A-arm bushings, lower trunnions, and more.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The sale includes maintenance records, a certified copy of a factory record from the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, a carburetor repair manual, uninstalled spare hoses, a Pioneer head unit manual, a fire extinguisher, and a tonneau cover.

@Gmanaz – You mentioned cracking in the paint. Could you post some closer up pictures? Any video running, driving, walk around? ...

Just posted a video that should show the imperfections. This is all original paint on this vehicle so there’s just some normal aging as well. However, I have to say the paint is in fantastic shape for a car of the sage..
