OVERVIEW
This 1973 MG MGB reportedly has been in California since new and was with the previous owner for more than 40 years prior to the current owner’s acquisition six months ago. It is powered by a seller-reported numbers-matching 1.8-liter inline-four engine backed by a four-speed manual transmission. Features include manual steering and front disc brakes, a folding convertible top, and a luggage rack. Refinished in Primrose Yellow over a dark blue vinyl interior, this MG comes with service records, repair manuals, a tonneau cover, and a clear California title in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR - FEATURES
The rust-free body received a respray in Primrose Yellow, a change from the original color of Tundra Green. Features include chrome bumpers, dual headlights, a chrome grille with a black mesh insert, a black folding convertible top with a plastic rear window, full-length bodyside trim, a luggage rack, dual taillights, and reverse lights. The seller notes a ding in the back bumper and minor chips in the bodywork and paint. A black interior tonneau cover is included with the sale but the seller notes that it has a slight tear in it.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of 14-inch chrome wire wheels is wrapped in recently rotated 175/R14 Cooper tires. The seller notes they have fewer than 1,000 miles on them because the car was stored for several years before being mechanically refurbished under current ownership.
INTERIOR - FEATURES
The bucket seats are upholstered in dark blue vinyl. Features include blue vinyl door panels with manual windows and a center console with a manual transmission shifter and a blue armrest pad. Additional features include blue carpeting, blue color-coordinated carpeting and carpeted floor mats, a black dashboard with a black top pad, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, a three-spoke aluminum steering wheel with a black grip, manual steering, and manual brakes.
INTERIOR - GAUGES
A 120-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure are located ahead of the driver. With 300 miles added during current ownership, the odometer reads 79K miles, which the seller believes to be accurate. The true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a reportedly numbers-matching 1.8-liter inline-four backed by a four-speed manual transmission. Underhood features include manual steering and brakes, twin 38-mm SU carburetors, and correct air filters. According to the seller, recent repairs include fluid changes, a tune-up, a pressure test and flush and fill of the cooling system, and a fuel filter replacement. The car is reported to run and drive well.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This MG was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. A single-exhaust system exits at the rear. Braking is provided by manual front discs and rear drums. According to the seller, the braking system was recently adjusted. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be seen in the carousel to the right.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
An in-cabin video of this MG being driven is available below. The seller will include service receipts, repair manuals, and a tonneau cover with the sale.

@Boobola – Picture # 58 show's a different license plate. Which are the plates that the car will be sold with? Very nice car.. ...
The MG is being sold with the original blue/yellow plates shown in the majority of the photos (and issued to the car when it was delivered new in California) and is registered in my name in California "Non-Op" status. The plate shown in; photo # 58 was used so the car could be legally driven and used on the street.

@oneprw – There is no indication of accident damage or rust repair and the usual vulnerable areas (lower front fenders, rocker panels, floors, show no rust or indication of previous repair. Take a close look at photo.#63. There MAY be a seam and it's possible that the rear valance was changed at some point, but we do not know. Please keep in mind that this car has been in California all of its life in the central valley, not near the ocean and in dry storage for over 40 years. Any work would have been done over 25 years ago and there is absolutely no signs of rust through, rot, or significant damage (other than normal nicks, chips, etc.) on the body. Also, take a close look at the photos of the inner rear fender wells that do not suggest any previous repair. Best of luck bidding! ...
Thank you

Attached is a photo I indicated would be posted of the car having been just started. Oil pressure ~70lbs cold, and stays at proper level when car warms.
@Slb0151 – Is this a flip? ...
I recently retired to a more remote area in California and was made aware of the MG by the son of the owner (who had the car for 40+ years as I mentioned), and had to remove the car from his garage when he passed away. I have been a British sports car enthusiast for many years and owned MG's, Triumph's and other over the years. I was intrigued with the cars long -time ownership, originality, and always liked the late 60's / early 70's MGB's. so I bought it, knowing that I did not have a place to keep it at my 55+ community. A close friend, who is very mechanical and has completed a number of frame off restorations of British cars agreed to go through the car, ensure that it was mechanically sound, complete the repairs referenced mentioned in this ad, and being the car back to life. So, that is a long answer but the car was acquired with the idea of reselling it once we felt comfortable that it was what we thought it was and represented a solid, reliable, original California, driver quality MGB. As I have stated, mechanically, the car is very good with all major systems functioning, excellent oil pressure and drivability with the opportunity to bring the car to a higher level with additional clean-up / detailing efforts. It will make a good car for someone who is looking for a reasonably priced chrome bumper, smog exempt (in California and most (?) states classic MGB.
Is this a flip?
