This 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu is finished in Danube Blue over a medium blue interior and is powered by a matching-numbers L79 327ci V8 paired with a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. The car was delivered to and sold new by Wilcox Rau Chevrolet in New Britan, Connecticut. Factory equipment includes the comfort and convenience package, tinted windshield, positraction rear end, and heavy-duty suspension. Now located in Boerne, Texas, this Chevelle is now offered by the selling dealership on a clean Texas title.
Finished in its factory shade on Danube Blue, the car retains all of the correct time like the polished side spear moldings, window trim, rear tail panel trim, and more. Malibu script emblems are located on the upper quarter panels while "327" badges with crossed flags are mounted on the fenders, which was standard for all L79 equipped Malibus.
Factory 15” painted steel wheels are equipped with chrome “dog dish” center hubcaps and are mounted to bias-ply tires up front and Pro Trac 235/60 tires in the rear. The car is equipped with power steering & power brakes from the factory as well as the F40 suspension package consisting of heavy-duty shocks& springs.
The interior is fitted bench seats upholstered in medium blue with dark blue inserts with matching door panels and carpet. The dash is finished in medium blue with a black pad that shows no cracking or wear. Factory features include a tinted windshield, push-button radio, a lockable glove compartment with Malibu script, as well as ashtrays for rear passengers. The shifter for the 4-speed manual transmission is mounted to the transmission tunnel and capped with a white shift knob. The trunk includes an original style matt along with a full-size spare tire and accompanying jack equipment.
The factory two-spoke steering wheel with a Chevrolet center cap sits in front of the instrumentation, which includes a 120-mph speedometer and a large, column-mounted 8k-rpm tachometer. Additional gauges include fuel level, voltage, and coolant temperature while aftermarket gauges are mounted underneath the dash. The five-digit odometer reads 3k miles, but true mileage is unknown.
The 327ci L79 V8 is original to the car and was factory rated at 350 horsepower and 360 ft/lbs of torque. The engine bay has been fully restored in its original configuration and retains many correct L79 parts such as the chrome valve covers dual-snorkel air cleaner, and aluminum intake manifold. The drivetrain is mechanically stock with the exception of the exhaust which consists of long tube headers and electric cutouts, allowing the exhaust to run fully open. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission and positraction equipped rear end.
Additional photos showing the underside are available in the gallery.
The sale includes original sales paperwork, receipts, Protect-O-Plate, and books.
