Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This modified, award-winning 1967 Chevrolet Camaro sports coupe received a frame-off restoration during the seller’s 50-year ownership and moves via an upgraded 427ci L88 V8 that has been bored out to 440ci and paired with a Turbo 400 three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes new body panels, roller rockers, square-port high-performance heads, a custom exhaust system, and a 12-bolt Positraction rear end. Finished in blue with red accent flames over a black and white vinyl interior, this first-generation Camaro is now offered with a 26-foot enclosed transport trailer, build documentation, and a clear Michigan title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

This 1967 Camaro hardtop was subjected to a frame-off restoration under the seller’s 50-year ownership and after a complete disassembly, received replacement factory fenders, quarter panels, and other body elements. The exterior was refinished in blue paint with custom red flames. Features include hideaway headlights, a chin spoiler, a cowl-induction hood, rocker moldings, a rear spoiler, and a dual-exhaust system. The brightwork was replaced or refinished and stainless steel hardware was used around the car. The seller states that this Camaro won a Best in Class award at the Detroit Autorama car show.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Machined aluminum wheels are wrapped in staggered-width tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cockpit is outfitted with black vinyl low-back bucket seats with white accent striping up front and a matching bench in the rear. The dash, door panels, center console, headliner, and carpeting are matching in color. Amenities include a radio, an AutoMeter Pro-Control panel, Camaro dash badging, and a T-handle shift lever.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Information is conveyed through a 120-mph speedometer, a column-mounted 10K-rpm AutoMeter tachometer, and factory auxiliary gauges. Additionally, gauge pods that display the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage have been installed on and near the center console. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 18K miles, which the seller states is an accurate figure.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The professionally built, upgraded 427ci L88 V8 was bored .060 over to 440ci and comes with a NOS nitrous oxide tank in the trunk. Performance equipment includes square-port high-performance heads, triple valve springs, a ported intake, a .700-lift cam, roller rockers, a steel crankshaft, a high-volume oil pump, solid steel motor mounts, drag headers, stainless steel fuel lines, a custom exhaust system, a new carburetor, and additional hardware as shown in the photo carousel to the right. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a professionally built Turbo 400 three-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain uses a driveshaft loop and directs torque to a 4.33-geared 12-bolt Positraction rear end with custom axles. The seller notes that the last engine service was performed in 2021 and approximately 200 miles have been added since the complete mechanical restoration.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The underbody has been custom-painted. Handling is aided by a traction bar and ladder bars. Stopping power comes via disc brakes with stainless steel lines. Additional photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The sale includes a 26-foot enclosed transport trailer and an equipment and modifications list. The seller has provided a walkaround video showing the condition of the exterior and interior as well as a separate video of the vehicle running below.
