OVERVIEW
This 1961 Studebaker Hawk has been with the seller for 13 years and is powered by a rebuilt 289ci V8 engine machined 0.030 over backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. The seller refers to it as a true survivor time capsule and claims that other than the rear bumper, carburetor, radiator, and sun visors, the car is as it was the day it was made in South Bend, Indiana. Features include manual brakes, power steering, and manual windows. Finished in Blaze Red over a red vinyl interior, this three-owner Studebaker is available now and comes with an original window sticker, Studebaker history, marketing materials, service records, buyer's and owner’s manuals, and a clear Washington title in the seller's name.
EXTERIOR - FEATURES
The front half of this Studebaker wears the original factory-applied Blaze Red paint finish; the rear half of the body was resprayed after bodywork and repairs. The fins were permanently attached to the quarter panels and the radio antenna was permanently removed from the trunk lid. Exterior features include chrome bumpers, a chrome grille, wheel opening moldings, side cowl vents, a driver-side mirror, and rear quarter panel trim with inserts. The seller states there is a dent in the passenger-side door and the original paint shows cracks and blisters from age. Additionally, rust is present in both front fenders at the rockers and the rear bumper has been replaced.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of American Racing aluminum wheels with gray centers, chrome center caps, and polished lips is wrapped in radial tires.
INTERIOR - FEATURES
The front bucket seats, rear seat, trim, and door panels are upholstered in red vinyl. Features include black carpeting, front lap belts, manual windows, power steering, manual brakes, a red steel dashboard with a black top pad, and a column-mounted automatic shifter. The seller notes that the sun visors have been replaced.
INTERIOR - GAUGES
A 160-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, amps, and vacuum are located ahead of the driver. With 1,500 miles added during current ownership, the odometer reads 69K miles, but the seller is unsure if the odometer has rolled over. The true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a 289ci V8 engine that has been bored .030 over stock and is backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. According to the seller, the engine was rebuilt by Studebaker expert Brian Curtis. Features include an Edelbrock carburetor with an electric choke, an Edelbrock air filter, and a remote oil filter. The seller states that the power steering pump is leaking and needs to be resealed. An oil change was completed 300 miles ago and the radiator has been replaced.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Studebaker was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Dual exhaust outlets exit at the rear. Braking is provided by manual drums.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The seller will include an original window sticker, Studebaker history, marketing materials, service records, and buyer's and owner’s manuals with the purchase of the vehicle.
