1984 Chevrolet El Camino

OVERVIEW

This 1984 Chevrolet El Camino coupe utility has been upgraded with a 5.7-liter LT-1 V8 power plant and dressed in a body kit and other elements, including a chin spoiler, a cowl hood, side skirts, and a color-matched rear roll pan. An automatic transmission with overdrive transfers torque to the 17-inch American Racing wheels at the rear. A Pioneer head unit and Roadmaster subwoofers provide cabin entertainment. Refinished in Alpine White over a blue vinyl and cloth interior, this fifth-generation El Camino is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer with an owner's manual, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear Mississippi title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

Riding on the General Motors G-body platform of the era, this rust-free El Camino has been refinished in Alpine White. Exterior treatment encompasses a urethane front bumper, a cowl-intake hood, color-keyed mirror caps, side skirts, a body-color cargo area, a rear roll pan, and dual chrome exhaust outlets. The selling dealer has posted photos showing cracks and webbing in certain areas of the body kit in the carousel to the right.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Polished aluminum 17-inch American Racing wheels are wrapped in Falken tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is outfitted with blue vinyl and cloth bucket seats split by a center console and matched to the door panels, dash, headliner, carpeting, and floor mats. The dash and console are accented with simulated woodgrain trim. Other features include a Pioneer AM/FM/cassette radio, a Roadmaster subwoofer enclosure behind the seats, air conditioning, and power windows. The seller reports the air conditioning works but the radio and electric door locks are non-operational. The passenger-side window motor is weak but still moves the window up and down.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 6K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The CARFAX report indicates an odometer reading of 113K miles in 1991, but the five-digit odometer currently shows 73K miles. The true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The upgraded fuel-injected 5.7-liter LT-1 V8 was recently subjected to an inspection, a general check-up, and an oil change. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted automatic transmission with overdrive.

UNDERCARRIAGE
