OVERVIEW
This performance-tuned 2008 Ford Mustang GT is one of 200 Roush-customized 428R units produced for its year and draws power from a supercharged 4.6-liter V8 paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It was first sold to Ford of Marin in San Rafael, California after being customized by Roush Industries in Livonia, Michigan when new. After residing on the west coast and receiving regular maintenance there until 2021, it was relocated to New York, and then to Illinois earlier this year. Upgrades include a lowered suspension, 18-inch chrome wheels, aerodynamic body upgrades, and a short-throw shifter. Finished in Performance White with blue accent striping over a Dark Charcoal leather interior, this fifth-generation Mustang is now offered by the selling dealer with service records, owner’s books, a certificate of authenticity, two key fobs, a tool kit, two window stickers, a CARFAX report, and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
This 2008 Mustang sports coupe is numbered 143 of the 200 special-edition Roush 428R Mustang GTs created for its model year. The exterior wears a Performance White finish with blue accenting graphics. Upgrades include a Cervini’s Auto Designs shaker hood along with a chin spoiler, a black flow-through grille, fog lamps, rear quarter window louvers, a rear decklid spoiler, and a performance exhaust system. The selling dealer notes that there is a two-inch scratch on the front splitter.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Chrome five-spoke 18-inch aluminum wheels are wrapped in Hankook Ventus tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cockpit is equipped with Dark Charcoal leather bucket seats up front and a bench in the rear, all matched to the center console, dash, door panels, carpeting, and embroidered floor mats. The dash was signed by Jack Roush. Amenities include power-adjustable mirrors, a short-throw shift lever, performance pedals, a six-speaker Shaker 500 audio system, tinted windows, air conditioning, cruise control, and a LoJack recovery system.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
White-faced instrumentation consists of a 140-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer reads 70,439 miles, which is in line with the mileage on the CARFAX report.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The supercharged 4.6-liter V8 was rated at 435 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque due to the Roush upgrades. The engine bay has a placard denoting the car’s production number, a signature from Jack Roush, and billet caps for the radiator, oil, and strut towers. The oil was changed in June 2022, other recent maintenance per the CARFAX report includes a clutch replacement in 2021 and a 5,000-mile service in 2019. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 5-speed manual transmission, a one-piece aluminum driveshaft, and a rear end with 4.10 gearing.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The suspension has been upgraded with Roush equipment including a front strut brace, lowering springs, performance struts, front and rear sway bars, jounce bumpers, and an anti-wheel-hop kit. Handling is aided by a traction control system. The four-wheel disc braking system has a 14-inch upgrade kit at the front.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The CARFAX report indicates minor damage to the front of the vehicle in 2016. The video below shows the car in greater detail. The sale includes service records, owner’s books, two key fobs, a tool kit, Roush Performance gloves, a certificate of authenticity, a window sticker from Ford, a window sticker from Roush, and more items as shown in the photo carousel to the right.
