OVERVIEW
This 1983 Jeep CJ-7 is a frame-off restoration powered by a 258ci inline six-cylinder backed by a five-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. Features include Howell fuel injection, a new fuel tank, a four-inch suspension lift, power steering, a tilt steering column, and a Kenwood stereo with Panasonic marine speakers. Additional features include a 9,000-pound Warn winch, a swing-away spare tire carrier, fog lights, two bikini tops, one full soft top, and a new exhaust system. Finished in Black Cherry Pearl over a Nutmeg vinyl interior, this CJ-7 is available now and comes with restoration and engine rebuild documentation, modification receipts, owner’s manuals, Chilton’s manuals, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear Oklahoma title in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR - FEATURES
During the complete frame-off restoration process, the body was refinished in Black Cherry Pearl, and the seller reports that the vehicle is show quality. Features include Warn bumpers, a Warn 9,000-pound winch, Warn fog lights, a folding windshield, wheel flares, Warn rocker panels and side steps, and a Warn swing-away spare tire carrier. The seller will include two bikini tops, one full soft top, and a set of cargo doors with the sale.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of 15-inch aluminum American Racing wheels with manual locking front hubs is wrapped in newer 33" x 12.50" BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires.
INTERIOR - FEATURES
The front bucket seats are upholstered in Nutmeg vinyl. Features include Nutmeg Rhino Linings material on the floor, a floor-mounted manual transmission shifter, and a floor-mounted transfer case shifter. Additional features include a Black Cherry Pearl dashboard with a saddle top pad, an AM/FM/CD stereo with front and rear Panasonic marine speakers, a tilt steering column topped with a three-spoke steering wheel, power steering, and power brakes. A new set of front seat covers will go with the sale.
INTERIOR - GAUGES
An 85-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, and voltage are located ahead of the driver. With 1,000 miles added during current ownership, the odometer reads 2,552 miles. Per the seller, the actual mileage is 2,000.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a 258ci inline six-cylinder backed by a manual transmission. Features include a 4.0-liter head, an Offenhauser intake, Howell fuel injection, a K&N air filter, and an electric fan. The seller states that the original engine block was rebuilt, then damaged and replaced with a new block. The engine has 500 fewer miles than what is currently shown on the odometer. The seller notes that the alternator belt was replaced in September of 2021, a new fuel tank has been added, and there is a small leak from the right side of the oil pan gasket. The seller has posted a road test video below.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Jeep was factory-equipped with part-time four-wheel drive and solid front and rear axles. The fuel sending unit and exhaust have been replaced.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The CARFAX Report starts in June 1996 and shows an accident-free history in Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Colorado, and Oklahoma. It indicates this Jeep was registered in a county declared a flood disaster area by FEMA in September of 2005. In addition, a potential odometer rollover was recorded in October 2014 and a mileage inconsistency was noted in July 2021. The seller will include restoration and engine rebuild documentation, modification receipts, owner’s manuals, and Chilton’s manuals with the sale.

The cargo/safari doors are in great shape. There is no carpet in the floor. The floor is the nutmeg Rhino lining. The doors are in my storage, I’ll get them out and take a photo. Note: my video has the cargo/ safari doors on the Jeep.
