This 1939 Ford Tudor Sedan is finished in black over a tan leather interior and was acquired by the seller from the original owner’s estate. The Ford underwent a three-year frame-off restoration beginning in 2006 with no expense spared. Powered by a 255ci Mercury flathead V8, the engine features Stromberg 97 carburetors, as well as Offenhauser heads and a Schneider 250F cam. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a newly rebuilt 3-speed manual transmission and rear end. Located in Cave Creek, Arizona, this 1939 Ford is now offered with its original factory literature, sales brochures, receipts, photos documenting the high dollar restoration and service records, and sold on a clear Arizona title.
Finished in gloss black, the body was taken down to bare metal during the restoration and bodyworked to provide a straight and smooth surface before applying the paint. The Tudor Sedan features a two-piece angled front windshield and a split oval rear window, with a full post between the two side windows. Brightwork is featured heavily throughout, with spears running the length of the sides, chrome windshield trim, chrome headlight trim rings, chrome bumpers, and more. Additional features include side fender vents, full-length running boards, and a V8 emblem in the grille.
Factory steel wheels are finished in black with chrome dog dish hubcaps, all wrapped in replica vintage Firestone whitewall tires, which have fewer than 400 miles of use. Stopping power is provided by factory spec drum brakes, while the factory suspension setup is retained as well.
The interior features a bench seat upholstered in tan leather, with matching door panels and gray carpeting. A custom wood dash was fitted during the restoration and houses controls for the heater while a modern radio is fitted underneath.
Behind the factory, a black 3-spoke steering wheel sits the instrumentation, which includes a 140mph speedometer and readouts for fuel, voltage, engine temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit analog odometer reads 363 miles, which is mileage since completion of the restoration.
Under the hood sits the Mercury 2551ci Flathead V8 that has been professionally balanced and stroked and equipped with a Schneider 250F cam, Offenhauser heads, and dual quad intakes, as well as dual Stromberg 97 carburetors. The electrical system has been upgraded to 12 volts and a full MSD distributor and ignition box, as well as a 100-amp alternator, have been installed. The cooling system has been upgraded with an aluminum radiator and electric fans, while the exhaust features full-length headers with high-flow mufflers. Power is transferred to a rebuilt rear end through a 3-speed manual transmission.
During the restoration, the underside was addressed with all components being repainted or replated. Additional underside photos are available in the gallery.
Included in the sale are replacement drive belts, factory literature, documentation, service records, and receipts from the restoration totaling over $90,000.
