OVERVIEW
This 1956 Ford Customline two-door hardtop is dressed in whitewall tires, bright trim, wheel skirts, and a dual-exhaust system. Power is supplied by a rebuilt 272ci Y-block V8 paired with a 4-barrel Edelbrock carburetor, Thunderbird valve covers, and a Ford-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. Refinished in two-tone red and white over a gray and burgundy vinyl interior, this final-year Customline Victoria is now offered with a shop manual and a clear California title in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
1956 was the last year of the Customline model and the only year of the Victoria trim line. The body was repainted two-tone red and white under prior ownership. Exterior treatment includes chrome and stainless steel brightwork, V8 badging, rear wheel skirts, and a dual-exhaust system with polished outlets.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Steel 15-inch wheels with original Ford-branded covers are wrapped in Mastercraft whitewall radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is furnished with dual gray and burgundy vinyl bench seats, matched to the door panels, dash, carpeting, and floor mats. Amenities include a JVC AM/FM/cassette radio, lap belts, and a heater. The vinyl-lined trunk contains a new chrome wheel with a Coker whitewall spare tire as well as a jack and a tire iron.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer accompanied by gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 38K miles and is believed to be correct, although the actual mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The rebuilt 272ci Y-block V8 is fed by an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and equipped with a chrome-finished air cleaner and Thunderbird valve covers. The engine oil and the rear transmission seal were replaced recently per the seller. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a Ford-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. A driving video is available for viewing below.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Power steering was added by the previous owner. Recent work includes the replacement of the brake shoes and cylinders, front wheel bearings, and idler arm.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The sale includes a shop manual.
AUTOHUNTER ADMIN UPDATE 10/17/22 8:19 AM: Per the seller, the vehicle is equipped with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, not a Holley unit, and the listing has been edited accordingly.
