Vehicle Story

This 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS is finished in Marina Blue over a black vinyl interior and powered by a date code correct 396ci V8 paired with a Muncie M21 4-speed transmission. Built in June of 1967 at the Van Nuys plant, the car was sold new by Allen Green Chevrolet in Seattle, WA, and acquired by the seller in 1993 from a friend who had owned the car for 9 years before. Equipment includes factory traction bars, front disc brakes, and dual exhaust. The engine was recently rebuilt, along with a new ignition system installed, suspension bushings replaced, and more. Located in Mandeville, Louisiana, this 1967 Camaro SS is offered for sale on a clean Louisiana title in the seller's name.

Finished in Marina Blue Poly, the car retains its factory finish and only had the black trim around the grille refinished due to flaking, per the seller. The glass and chrome bumpers are original to the car, confirmed by the date codes. A white "SS" emblem is featured in the center of the grille, flanked by inboard-mounted parking lamps. A white Super Sport stripe wraps around the nose of the car and simulated vents are affixed to the hood.

Factory Rallye wheels are finished in gray with polished trim rings and center caps, wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial TA tires on all four corners. Recent maintenance of the suspension includes new poly bushings, upper and lower ball joints, control arms, Hotchkis performance sway bar Kit 2207F and tie rod sleeves. A new manual steering quick ratio box was also installed, along with a pitman arm, and idler arm. The car is equipped with the J56 front disc brake package from the factory, the left front caliper was replaced with a new reproduction unit along with new discs and hoses for both sides.

The car is equipped with a standard black interior with black vinyl bucket seats and black door panels. The center console houses the polished shifter for the Muncie 4-speed with a black shift knob. The black dash pad shows no signs of cracking or splitting, while the factory radio and heater controls are retained in the dash. Black carpeting covers the floor with black rubber floor mats.

Behind the three-spoke factory steering wheel sits a 120mph speedometer and 7k rpm tachometer. Ancillary gauges are mounted in the center console and feature readouts for fuel, engine temperature, and oil pressure. The odometer currently shows 17K miles, though true mileage is unknown.

Under the hood sits a 396ci L78 V8 engine that is not original but date code correct for the car with a build date of April 1967. Equipped with a Holley 780 carburetor, the engine was recently disassembled while the block was degreased, new freeze plugs installed, cylinders honed, pistons cleaned while the crankshaft was cleaned and polished. The flywheel was also surfaced while a new oil, water, and fuel pump were installed. Rings, main bearings, roller bearings were also replaced. The existing solid lifter cam was replaced with a new Competition Cam X-Treme Energy XE274H hydraulic flat tappet camshaft complete with new lifter springs and valve seats, timing chain & gear, magnum rocker arms with Crane Cams posi stop kool nuts. A new voltage regulator was installed, along with a new MSD 6AL ignition system with Pro Billet Distributor and MSD Blaster 2 coil. The heater bypass and radiator hoses were replaced along with new motor and transmission mounts. The 4-speed manual Muncie-21 transmission was recently serviced and features a new Zoom multi-friction clutch and disc spline and a new front bearing retainer. A Flowmaster American Thunder Exhaust System was also fitted and installed.

Additional underside photos are available in the gallery.

Included in the sale are various service records, an NCRS Shipping Report, all the OEM parts taken off, and several shop manuals.

The white plate is the Louisiana registered license plate. The green 66/67 license plate is not registered and placed on vehicle for Coffee & Cars / Local Car Shows / photographs. I was planning on including the green 66/67 license plate with the removed parts and vehicle receipts / manuals.
