OVERVIEW
This first-year 1964 Pontiac GTO convertible received a frame-off restoration and comes equipped with air conditioning, a center console, power steering, power brakes, and Cragar wheels. Power is supplied by a 389ci V8 paired with a Hurst-shifted four-speed manual transmission. Refinished in gold and equipped with a newer white power-retractable top over a white vinyl interior, this GTO is now offered by the selling dealer with receipts and a clear Colorado title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
This GTO convertible from the model’s initial year went through a complete frame-off restoration under prior ownership and was repainted gold. A newer power-operated white retractable top has been fitted. Additional exterior features include a split grille, quad headlights, a vented hood, dual side mirrors, rocker moldings, a full-width taillight panel, and dual exhaust outlets with four tips.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Polished aluminum five-spoke Cragar wheels are wrapped in blackwall tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is fitted with white vinyl low-back bucket seats, a rear bench, and matching door panels. The carpeting and dash pad are covered with contrasting black. Other interior features include a center console, lap belts, a Hurst shifter, a push-button radio, air conditioning, and GTO badging. The vinyl-lined trunk contains a spare tire.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation is presented in an engine-turned aluminum bezel and includes a 120-mph speedometer and factory gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature. An additional aftermarket coolant temperature gauge is installed below the left side of the dash. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 66K miles, which the seller believes to be an actual reading, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The 389ci V8 received an oil change within the last six months. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a console-shifted four-speed manual transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Handling is assisted by power steering and power brakes. Additional photos showing the underside are available in the carousel to the right.
