This 1970 GMC C3500 Sierra Grande Camper Special pickup is finished in dark brown with a white roof over a tan cloth interior and is powered by a 402ci V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. It was sold new in Oregon where it spent the majority of its life. Equipment includes Sierra Grande trim, bucket seats, air conditioning, and power brakes. Located in Winchendon, Massachusetts, this Sierra Grande is now offered on a clean Massachusetts title in the seller’s name.
The truck is finished in two-tone white and dark brown and was recently repainted with PPG metallic paint during the seller's ownership. The truck features new factory replacement door handles along with chrome bumpers front and rear as well as additional brightwork down the sides and around the tailgate. Additionally, the truck is equipped with a chrome grille shell with dual headlights on each side. The Camper Special bed is 6" longer than the standard factory bed, and the floor consists of wood planks with chrome strips, while the inner bed sides have been coated in a brown bedliner.
Factory 16” steel wheels are finished in white and equipped with chrome GMC-logo center caps and are mounted to Firestone 235/85 tires on all four corners. The truck is equipped with power brakes with recently replaced rotors and pads and the suspension has been lowered slightly in the rear to level the ride height.
The interior is fitted with factory-installed tan cloth bucket seats, along with a matching center console with armrest and storage. The seats are original, while the brown carpeting was replaced, along with the installation of new door panels, headliner, and dash pad. An aftermarket Pioneer AM/FM/cassette head unit is installed in the dash and speakers in each door panel. Controls for the heater and air conditioning are located just below the radio and a new heater control box was installed. GMC Custom badging resides on the face of the metal glove compartment door.
Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer and a 5k-rpm tachometer, along with other gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer reads 58k miles, which is original to the truck.
The rebuilt 402ci L47 big-block V8 is original to the vehicle and was factory-rated at 300 hp. The exhaust system has been overhauled with a new Magnaflow muffler and 3" pipes. Additionally, a new starter was installed along with an alternator, oversized radiator, and hoses. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 3-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission with a column-mounted shifter.
