Vehicle Story

This 1955 Chevrolet Cameo 3100 pickup is finished in white over a red interior. The truck received a high-level restoration in1998, after which it was kept and displayed in an automotive museum in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. During the restoration, primarily OEM replacement or original restored parts were used to keep the truck as original as possible, except for a rebuilt 283ci V8 engine mated to a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission. Recent maintenance includes an oil change and battery replacement performed in September. Located in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, this 1955 Chevrolet Cameo is now offered for sale on a clean Calgary registration in the seller's name.

Finished in Bombay Ivory from the factory, the 3100 was resprayed in the original color during the restoration. The paint is free of any blemishes or defects, while all chrome and trim show no signs of pitting or peeling. Red accents are featured around the cab windows and the inner bedsides, while toolbox finished matching is mounted in the wood bed.

The truck rides on factory steel wheels finished to match the body and are equipped with chrome hubcaps. The wide whitewall tires were installed during the restoration; the seller notes some minor cracking in the side walls and flat spots due to the truck being showcased in the museum.

The interior features a bench seat upholstered in Commercial red fabric and white vinyl, while matching white door panels contain red inserts with chrome door handles and window cranks. A black rubber mat covers the entire floor while the headliner is upholstered in red vinyl.  The dash is finished in white to match the exterior with a red dash pad and houses a factory AM radio and heater controls.

Behind the red factory steering wheel sits a horizontally raked 100 mph speedometer. Ancillary gauges provide readouts for fuel, battery amperage, oil pressure, and engine temperature. A five-digit analog odometer shows 10K miles, though true mileage is unknown.

The original 6-cylinder engine has been replaced with a 283ci V8, which was rebuilt during the restoration. The engine bay was fully cleaned, prepped, and refinished during the restoration, with the firewall in white and inner fenders in black. The engine is topped with a 2-barrel carburetor, and black oil bath air cleaner, recent service work performed in September of 2020 includes an oil change, and new battery   Power is routed to the rear wheels through a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission.
