Vehicle Story

This 1958 Chevrolet Impala is finished in red over a tri-tone interior. Having recently undergone a comprehensive restoration, the car retains its original 348ci Turbo Thrust V8 engine, mated to a 2-speed PowerGlide automatic transmission, both of which were rebuilt 8,500 miles ago. Additional features include power steering, a dual exhaust, and a factory push-button radio. Located in Lenexa, Kansas, this first-generation Impala is now offered by the selling dealer on a clear Kansas title.

The Impala is finished in its original shade of Rio Red and features unique styling elements such as horizontal dual headlamps, triple bullet taillights, full-length side spears, and sculpted rear quarter panels with faux vents. All chrome is in good condition with no pitting or peeling, while the wrap-around front and rear glass are free of any chips or cracks. The front grille features integrated parking lights and turn signals, while the hood and trunk are equipped with Chevrolet badges with gold "V" emblems below.

The factory steel wheels are finished in red to match the body and equipped with polished hubcaps featuring black accents and faux knock-offs. The car is equipped with power steering, while manual drums handle braking at all four corners.

The tri-tone interior features bench seats upholstered in light beige with brown, tan, and beige striped inserts. The door panels are upholstered in tan and accented with beige inserts, stainless steel trim plates, and tan armrests, while the dash pad is upholstered in beige to match. Brown carpeting covers the floor, matching the two-spoke steering wheel and column. Additional features include an analog clock mounted in the dash, as well as a factory radio.

The two-tone dash features metal trim plates across the face with an "Impala" script on the passenger side. The instrumentation includes a horizontal speedometer with a five-digit analog odometer showing just over 30K miles, though true mileage is unknown.

The rebuilt 348ci Turbo Thrust V8 was recently rebuilt and features the trademark "Camel Hump" style heads and topped with a 4 barrel carburetor. A combination generator/power steering pump is equipped on the accessory drive while the air cleaner and valve covers are finished in chrome. The engine bay was cleaned and refinished in satin black during the restoration, while the engine block, heads, and intake manifold were sprayed in Chevrolet orange. A 2-speed PowerGlide automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels and was rebuilt at the same time as the engine.

A dual exhaust system with glass-pack mufflers has been installed in place of the factory unit. Additional underside photos are available in the gallery
