OVERVIEW
This 1999 Mercedes-Benz SL 500 roadster comes with two available tops and draws power from a 5.0-liter M113 V8 paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. It was originally allocated to Coggin O’Steen Motor Company in Ashland, Kentucky and has more than 30 service records on its CARFAX. Finished in dark teal over a tan leather interior, this R129 SL is now offered by the selling dealer with the hardtop and stand, a window sticker, an owner’s manual, the CARFAX report, and a clear Kentucky title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
This dark teal 1999 SL 500 is equipped with both a color-matched removable hardtop as well as a black cloth power-retractable top. Features include Xenon headlamps, fog lamps, color-keyed bumpers and moldings, and a trunk-mounted LED third brake lamp.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Silver 17-inch aluminum five-spoke wheels are fitted with Mercedes-branded center caps and wrapped in tires with black sidewall lettering.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is optioned with tan leather power-adjustable bucket seats, split by a center console and color-matched to the door panels, dash, carpeting, and floor mats. Amenities include woodgrain trim, automatic climate control, an exterior thermometer, power windows, power door locks, and cruise control. The selling dealer notes that the radio displays an error code.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, 7K-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for the fuel level, instantaneous fuel economy, coolant temperature, and oil temperature. The digital odometer reads 97K miles. The CARFAX report shows a mileage reading of 94,548 miles in January 2016 and a Mileage Inconsistency in July 2020 when the odometer showed 82,500 miles.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The 5.0-liter M113 V8 was rated at 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque when new. It was serviced within the last four months per the selling dealer. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 5-speed automatic transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The CARFAX indicates that an alignment was performed and the steering damper was replaced in 2016.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
This vehicle was previously sold on Auto Hunter but is being relisted because the buyer backed out of the transaction through no fault of the seller. The CARFAX shows very minor damage to the front end in August 2008. The sale includes the body-color hardtop and stand, an owner’s manual, and a window sticker showing the original retail price of $77,060.
