This 1979 Volkswagen Beetle convertible is finished in blue with a black cloth top, over a black vinyl interior, and is powered by a 1600-cc flat 4-cylinder engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. It is a fully-restored example of the last year of the air-cooled Beetle convertible and equipment includes a crystal quartz clock, adjustable bucket seats, and electronic fuel injection. Located in Greenville, South Carolina, this Beetle is now offered on a clean South Carolina title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in blue with a black cloth top and has been restored to “as-new” condition according to the seller. All components replaced were either new or refurbished, including the gaskets, weather stripping, and chrome. The paint is in good condition, and the manually-operated convertible top opens and closes as designed. The chrome bumpers are in good condition with no pitting or corrosion, along with remaining brightwork such as the side moldings and the dual side-view mirrors.
Factory 15” steel wheels are finished in silver with black plastic center caps and mounted to Remington Radial 165-series whitewall tires on all four corners. The suspension system consists of a four-wheel independent set up along with a rack and pinion steering system.
The interior is fitted with black vinyl bucket seats up front and a bench in the rear with matching black door panels and carpet. The dashboard is accented by a woodgrain full-width panel and includes an analog clock and a factory Motorola AM/FM radio, both of which are operating with no issue. The shifter for the manual transmission is mounted to the transmission tunnel and equipped with a black vinyl shift boot while aftermarket rubber floormats were added to protect the carpeting
Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer and an accompanying fuel gauge and warning lights for the parking brake activation and seatbelt fastening. The five-digit odometer reads 74k miles, which are original to the vehicle per the seller.
The fuel-injected, air-cooled 1600cc flat-4 is rebuilt according to the seller and has been driven fewer than 500 miles since the work was completed. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission with a floor-mounted shift lever.
Additional photos showing the underside are available in the gallery.
The sale includes a factory owner’s manual.

@Berea1964 – Thanks for asking, I have owned it for about a year and a half. I bought it when it was coming out of the restoration. It’s the original color, everything except as you noted appears to be original. Car came from Texas as best as I can tell, no rust or corrosion. I have some of the parts and catalogs from the restoration and a nice car cover ...
Thanks. Do you mind me asking, why you’re selling?
