OVERVIEW
This 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS is powered by a modified 409ci V8 equipped with forged pistons, roller rockers and lifters, and ARP head bolts. Features include an upgraded five-speed manual transmission, power steering, power front disc brakes, and dual Edelbrock four-barrel carburetors. Finished in Bright Red over a red vinyl interior, this Impala SS is available now and comes from the selling dealer with more than $6,000 in modification receipts and a clear title.
EXTERIOR - FEATURES
Originally finished in Tuxedo Black (paint code 900), the exterior has been refinished in Bright Red. Features include chrome bumpers, an aluminum grille, bodyside and rocker trim, a fender-mounted antenna, dual mirrors, Impala SS emblems, and rear body trim. This Impala has code 12H on the accessory line of the data tag that denotes it was built in St. Louis, Missouri. The selling dealer notes that there is a small blemish in the paint on the driver-side rear quarter panel. A detailed video walkaround can be seen below.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of late-model five-spoke aluminum wheels is wrapped in radial tires.
INTERIOR - FEATURES
Originally equipped with SS-grade Black vinyl front bucket seats (trim code 812), the cabin now features red vinyl seating, trim, and door panels. Features include power steering, power brakes, a center console with a locking compartment, a floor-mounted five-speed manual transmission shifter, manual windows, and an AM radio.
INTERIOR - GAUGES
A 120-mph speedometer, a clock, a fuel level gauge, and a temperature warning light are mounted ahead of the driver. A set of three aftermarket gauges for the coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage is located under the dashboard. The odometer reads 99,547 miles but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a 409ci V8 engine backed by an upgraded five-speed manual transmission. According to the selling dealer, the receipts that come with the car show more than $6,000 was invested in the engine. Features include Edelbrock aluminum heads, forged pistons, roller rockers and lifters, ARP head bolts, an aluminum dual four-barrel intake, an finned aluminum Edelbrock air cleaner, a chrome brake master cylinder and power booster, and a hydraulic clutch. Additional features include a serpentine belt engine accessory drive system, tubular headers, a Be Cool aluminum radiator, and electric fans.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Impala was originally equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. The braking system has been upgraded with power front discs and rear drums. A full-length dual exhaust system with Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers exits at the rear. Additional photos of the undercarriage are available in the gallery on the right.
