OVERVIEW
This frame-off-restored and Canadian-built 1968 Oldsmobile 442 is powered by a numbers-matching 400ci V8 engine backed by the original three-speed automatic transmission. Features include power brakes, power steering, an AM radio, a center console, and Rally Pac gauges. Finished in Sapphire Blue over a blue vinyl interior, this 442 is available now and comes from the selling dealer with owner's booklets and a clear Ohio title.
EXTERIOR - FEATURES
During the restoration, the exterior was refinished in the original color of Sapphire Blue (code D). Features include chrome bumpers, chrome hood trim, a fender-mounted antenna, white fender stripes, a driver-side mirror, wheel opening moldings, and trunk trim with Oldsmobile lettering and a 442 emblem.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of gray 14-inch Oldsmobile Rallye wheels with chrome center caps and stainless steel trim rings is wrapped in 225/70 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 redline radial tires.
INTERIOR - FEATURES
The front bucket seats, rear seat, rear trim, and door panels are upholstered in blue vinyl. Features include a center console with a storage compartment and an automatic shifter, manual windows, power steering, power brakes, a color-keyed deluxe steering wheel, an AM radio, and a 442 badge.
INTERIOR - GAUGES
The optional Rally Pac gauges include a 120-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm Tic Tock Tach, and readouts for the fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The odometer shows 81,182 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by the numbers-matching 400ci V8 and backed by the original three-speed automatic transmission. The restored engine bay features a correct metallic bronze engine block, heads, intake, and valve covers along with a matte black firewall, radiator core support, and inner fenders. Photos and the decoding of the engine and transmission casting numbers can be seen in the carousel to the right.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This 442 was originally equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. All underbody surfaces and suspension parts were refinished in matte black during the restoration. A full-length dual exhaust system with correct chrome trumpet-style exhaust outlets exits at the rear. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The selling dealer will include owner's booklets as part of the sale.

@GreatLakesCC – Thank you for the compliment. The 442 is indeed gorgeous. As I was personally told, the restoration was a nut and bolt including driveline teardown and rebuilt. Not modified nor supped up, simply reconditioned and restored with factory specs. That was started 10 to 12 yes ago and completion 8-10 yes old. The 442 is as the pictures show,,, a true show quality car. Nothing stands out as damaged nor needing repair due to poor condition. Hope this affirmation helps. ...
Thank you for answering the questions, much appreciated!
@CarlHothan – Hello, beautiful 442 you have. Just a few questions? Would you happen to know if the motor was rebuilt during the restoration? If so, any documentation to support? Also, condition of the body & paint? Any flaws, chips, scratches, wavy panels, etc? Condition of the trim, bumpers, glass? Thank you very much,, ...
