Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This rust-free 1930 Ford Model A is powered by a 1938 Ford Flathead V8 engine backed by a 1939 Ford three-speed manual transmission. Features include 1940 Ford hydraulic brakes, 1933 Ford commercial headlights, a tilt-out windshield, and a 1932 Ford grille shell. Finished in Washington Blue Variant over a gray vinyl interior, this 1930 Ford Model A is available now and comes from the selling dealer with a clear Massachusetts title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The steel coupe body is finished in Washington Blue Variant and it has not been chopped or channeled. Features include 1933 Ford commercial headlights with body-colored buckets and integrated turn signals, a 1932 Ford grille shell with a stainless steel insert, a gray two-piece hood, a tilt-out windshield, a windshield visor, dual rearview mirrors, a black vinyl roof insert, and 1950 Pontiac taillights. The selling dealer states that there are only a few minor paint imperfections which can be seen in the photo carousel to the right.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of steel wheels, finished in red with Ford script hub caps and trim rings, is wrapped in newer Excelsior radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The bench seat, trim, and door panels are upholstered in gray vinyl. Features include a floor-mounted manual transmission shifter, manual steering, brakes, and windows, electric windshield wipers, and a four-spoke steering wheel with a black grip.

 INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 160-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage are located in an engine-turned panel ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 9,500 miles but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 21-stud 1938 Ford Flathead V8 engine, with a cam and adjustable lifters, backed by a 1939 Ford three-speed manual transmission. Underhood features include Offenhauser heads, a Power Master alternator, a Weiand intake, a Stomberg aluminum intake with three 97 carburetors, a body-color firewall, tube headers, electric fan, and a cannister oil filter.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The original chassis was modified to accept a solid I-beam drop front axle and a 1941 Ford solid rear drive axle. The frame has been lengthened by seven inches to accommodate the replacement rear axle. The frame and suspension components have been color matched to the body with accent details. Braking is provided by manual 1940 Ford hydraulic four-wheel drums. A 16-gallon gas tank has been installed in the trunk. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be seen in the carousel to the right.
