Vehicle Story

This 1960 Chevrolet Impala convertible is finished in Roman Red with a white soft top over a red and white vinyl interior. Power is provided by the original 348ci V8 paired with three 2-barrel carburetors and a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission.  It is an original California car that received a full restoration, which was completed in 2016.  Equipment includes a powered retractable top, modern audio system, and newer wide-whitewall tires.  Located in Thousand Oaks, California, this Impala is now offered by the selling dealer on a clean California title.

The car is finished in its factory original color scheme of Roman Red with a white power convertible top. A white accent stripe is featured along the quarter panels' sides, surrounded by polished trim with an Impala script and crossed flag emblem.  Additional brightwork includes chrome bumpers front and rear,  window trim, upper body trim, and tailfin trim, all in good condition.  A finned aluminum trim panel houses the cat-eye taillights at the rear, while dual antennas are mounted on top of the quarter panels. The car is also equipped with fender skirts and chrome half-moon covers on the headlights.

Factory steel wheels are finished in red and have full covers with crossed flag emblems in the center. Wide-whitewall tires are mounted on all four corners.  The car is equipped with power steering.

The interior is fitted with red and white vinyl bench seats with houndstooth inserts, which were professionally reupholstered as part of the restoration. Matching red carpeting and red and white door panels were installed as well.  The dash is finished in red to match the exterior and has an Impala emblem on the passenger side above the glove compartment.  A factory tissue holder is installed below the dash, and the radio has been upgraded to a retro-look head unit with AM/FM/Satellite capability.

Instrumentation is framed by a white and red steering wheel with a chrome inner horn ring. The gauges include a 120-mph speedometer along with readouts for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level.  An analog clock is also included in the cluster.  The five-digit odometer shows 52k miles, though true mileage is unknown.

The 348ci V8 is original to the vehicle and equipped with three 2-barrel carburetors, factory rated at 280 horsepower when new. The engine bay has been fully restored as well, with the firewall finished in red and inner fenders in matte black. The block, heads, intake manifold, and valve covers are finished in orange. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a column-shifted 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission.

The sale includes a car cover, convertible top boot cover, and partial service records.
