Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 2002 Mercedes-Benz SLK230 roadster has been driven 76,542 miles since new. It is powered by a Kompressor supercharged 2.3-liter inline-four mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a power-retractable hardtop, dual-zone automatic climate control, machined aluminum interior trim, and Michelin tires. Finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic over a charcoal leather interior, this R170-series SLK is now offered with an owner’s manual, a windscreen, a trunk cargo net, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear Texas title in the seller’s name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

This SLK was previously sold on AutoHunter in March 2021 and has been garage-kept by the seller in Texas since that time. The Brilliant Silver Metallic exterior finish matches the power-retractable hardtop. Features include fog lamps, HID headlights, turn signal repeaters on the mirror caps, roll hoops, and a polished exhaust outlet. The seller notes that there is a ding on the front passenger-side fender.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Aluminum 16-inch seven-spoke wheels are wrapped in Michelin tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is fitted with heated charcoal leather bucket seats, matched to the door panels, dash, and carpeting. Features include machined aluminum trim, metallic door sill plates, power windows, power door locks, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a factory AM/FM/six-CD audio system.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer reads 76,542 miles, which is in line with the most recent mileage figure of 75,263 miles recorded on on the CARFAX report in April 2022.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The unmodified supercharged and intercooled Kompressor 2.3-liter inline-four was rated at 192 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The CARFAX report starts in May 2002 and shows an accident-free and damage-free vehicle history across three owners in New Jersey, New York, and Texas. The vehicle passed a Texas emissions inspection in April 2022. The sale includes an owner’s manual, a windscreen, and a trunk cargo net.

@HereWeGo – Is there any maintenance records. Carfax seems limited. Any undercarriage photos. Thanks, ...

The under carriage is clean. The vehicle did have a minor drop coming from transmission pan. I had it repaired. Replaced gasket, filter and oil recently. Other then that the under carriage is clean as a whistle.

@Roonma53 – Was car dealer maintained, Clean title, never damaged by water? If you purchased the car in 2021 why are you selling it so soon? Mark ...

That is what I do for sport. I buy and sell fun cars. I fix them if need be and resell them back after driving for a year or two. This SLK 230 was a lot of fun my wife and I drove. Right now I have about 12 cars and need to thin down.. Two mustang 5.0 Fox bodies 3 jeep TJ'S and 2 Tocomas. I have a Triumph Spitfire 78 and 73 Couger 351 convertible. The SLK was never in an accident or a flood. Insurance gets expensive.
