OVERVIEW
This hand-built 1956 Continental Mark II is from the Continental Division of the Ford Motor Company that existed in the late 1950s and was reportedly owned by Les Brown (under the alias Lee Brown), leader of the big band group Les Brown and His Band of Renown. It is equipped with $4,000 in recent upgrades and is powered by a 368ci Y-block V8 backed by a Turbo Drive three-speed automatic transmission. Features include air conditioning and power steering, brakes, and windows. Finished in Shenandoah Green over a two-tone Medium Green and Light Green leather interior, this Continental Mark II is available now and comes from the selling dealer with a technical manual, the items detailed below, and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
According to the selling dealer, the exterior was refinished in the original color of Shenandoah Green in the 1970s. It features chrome bumpers, a chrome grille, rocker moldings, a driver-side mirror, a fender-mounted antenna, air conditioning inlet vents, and a hidden fuel filler. The selling dealer states that the paint has minor imperfections due to its age.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of black 15-inch wheels with Continental full hub caps is wrapped in new 235/75 American Classic whitewall tires, which constitute the majority of the $4,000 in recent upgrades reported by the selling dealer.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The front bench seat and rear seat are upholstered in Medium Green and Light Green leather. Features include coordinating door panels and trim; power steering, brakes, and windows; air conditioning; and a column-mounted automatic shifter.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 140-mph speedometer, a 5K-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and amperage are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 88,601 miles, which the selling dealer believes to be the actual mileage.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a 368ci Y-block V8 and backed by a Turbo Drive three-speed automatic transmission. Engine bay features include cast aluminum Continental valve covers, a correct black air cleaner, a new battery, and a windshield washer.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Mark II was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power drums. A full-length dual exhaust system exits through the rear bumper. The selling dealer states that there is some surface rust on the frame rails.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
A technical manual, license plate frames, a tire iron, a fire extinguisher, and a trim code chart will be included with the purchase of the car.
