OVERVIEW
This 1968 Plymouth Barracuda convertible receives power from a newer 340ci V8 mated to a TorqueFlite 727 three-speed automatic transmission. It has been equipped with Formula S badges, an Edelbrock air intake, W2 heads, electronic ignition, new Gabriel shocks, and Rallye wheels with BFGoodrich tires. Finished in blue and equipped with a black convertible top over a black vinyl interior, this second-generation Barracuda is now offered with a clear Texas title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The reportedly rust-free body was repainted blue under prior ownership 15 years ago. Equipment includes chrome brightwork, Formula S badging on the front fenders, a driver-side mirror, wheel arch and rocker moldings, a black convertible top with a plastic rear window, and a dual exhaust system. The seller notes that there is a six-inch crack on the passenger side of the windshield and that the fender trim tag is absent.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Steel Rallye wheels with polished trim rings are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is fitted with black vinyl bucket seats up front, a black vinyl bench in the rear, and matching finishes for the door panels, dash, console, and carpeting. Features include simulated woodgrain trim, a steering wheel wrap, floor mats, a heater, lap belts, and a trunk-mounted spare tire.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 150-mph speedometer along with a combination gauge that shows the voltage, fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. An additional aftermarket three-gauge pod is mounted under the center of the dash. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 7,096 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The upgraded 340ci V8 has a 1973 casting date, W2 heads, an Edelbrock air-gap intake, electronic ignition, headers, and a Dakota starter. An oil change was performed in April 2022. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted TorqueFlite 727 three-speed automatic transmission with a manual valve body and an 8.75-inch rear end with 3.23 gearing.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The suspension benefits from new Gabriel shocks up front and new Gabriel adjustable air shocks in the rear.

@donk310 – Good day for top down! Have a video of top operating but having trouble getting it posted on this site. ...
Thanks! It looks sharp. My first car was a ‘69 ‘cuda 2-door hardtop and I’m sorry I let it get away from me nearly 50 years ago!
@fleetjames – Not a single picture with the top down? How about it? ...

@Sinlinson – Nice Cuda! Do all the lights and accessories work? Was the car originally Blue? Manual valve body means the transmission must be shifted, cannot be left in drive? Floors/ trunk/ quarters/ fender bottoms are all solid Texas metal? Thanks! ...
All lights and accessories work. Manual valve body means the console shifter needs to be used to run through gears. 3.23 rear gears are good for 70 mph cruising. Original color was light blue. B5 blue with metal flake that pops in sunlight!
@BMT450 – Can we get some pics of the under carriage along the rocker panels? It always concerns me if those were installed aftermarket to hide rust damage or other issues and there aren't extensive pics of the under carriage of this car in the typical problem areas. ...
Photos of bottom of rockers and rear quarter attached. This Texas car is rust free!
