OVERVIEW
This 1971 Porsche 911E Karmann coupe received a repaint one year ago and comes with 16-inch Fuchs wheels, a whale tail spoiler, a roll cage, and a Momo steering wheel. Power comes from a rear-mounted 2.2-liter flat-six that is mated to a five-speed manual transaxle. Finished in red over a black leather interior, this 911E is now offered by a Texas dealership with a Porsche Production Specifications document and a clear Ohio title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
Originally an Albert Blue car, this 911E was refinished in red in 2022. Exterior features include color-matched bumpers, dual mirrors, bright window moldings, a whale tail spoiler, and a single exhaust outlet.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Five-spoke 16-inch Fuchs-style wheels with black pockets and polished lips are wrapped in Dunlop front and Yokohama rear tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The two-seat cockpit is fitted with black leather buckets along with matching finishes for the dashboard, steering wheel, door panels, and newer carpeting. Interior features include a tubular roll cage, a Momo steering wheel, metallic dash trim, carpeted floor mats, a carpeted front cargo area, and tinted windows. A Pioneer AM/FM/cassette radio is installed but is inoperative, according to the selling dealer.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
The VDO-branded instrumentation includes a 150-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and accompanying gauges for the fuel level, oil temperature, and oil pressure. The tachometer, oil volume gauge, and clock are inoperative. The five-digit mechanical odometer has rolled over and reads 18,402 miles. That equates to 118,402 miles, which the selling dealer reports to be accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The rear-mounted 2.2-liter flat-six is connected to an aftermarket fuel cell and a pair of rebuilt Weber carburetors. The oil and other fluids were changed within the last 100 miles. The selling dealer notes a hard-start condition when the motor is cold. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted five-speed manual transaxle.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Certain areas on the undercarriage show corrosion and age-related damage.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The sale includes a Porsche Production Specifications document. The existing Ohio title classifies this as a 1970 vehicle, but the selling dealer states that the model year will be corrected to 1971 upon transfer to the buyer.

@jondoc – I may be a bit naive but if I was selling dealer, I'd have obvious things like tach, radio, clock, and oil volume gauges operative to sell something. Especially if I wanted to get top dollar for it at a "Reserve" type auction!!! That's just my opinion tho. I always wanted to "Put My Best Foot Forward." ...
Although I appreciate your opinion I am not sure why you are voicing it here? Feel free to contact me otherwise. As for selling a car with some items not working or completed, that can be due to many circumstances such as consignment for a client, availability or many other reasons . If you are a dealer or past dealer you would be aware of these items. I believe that this comment section is for questions about the car listed. Not for criticism of how a person chooses to listed or sell there cars. If you have any specific questions about this car and you are looking to purchase feel free to reach out to me and I will be glad to help! Have a great day!

@HarlanN – This is a scary car. It's misbadged (2.0, 911E, S Engine, etc...) on a car that supposidley has a 2.2 liter engine with carbs. Serious cracks in the undercarrage, sloppy patching, some serious invasive rust in the supports, not sure how much bondo is under that car but it looks to be flacking off in places. Too many things not working (radio, tach, oil volume gauge, clock) makes one think the electrical harness may need replacement or serious shorting issues in the system. Good luck to whom ever purchases this car. Love Porsches though. ...
If you will read the updates we explained that the engine is a 2.0 liter. The flaking under the car is undercoating not bondo.

The serial number on the car is in fact a 1971 911E Karmann Coupe
@Rehab – According to the Porsche Production Specifications sheet we received the car was manufactured as a 1971 911E KARMANN Coupe (see pic of Docs in listing). It seems somewhere in its past someone converted it to Carbs. Becuase I have very little history on the car I do not know at what point the changes where made to the car including the body part changes. ...
The engine had to have been replaced at some point. The engine number is 4180203. Which is a 2.0 liter S engine. I have requested that the listing be corrected accordingly.
@GSJoe – If this is truly a '70 or '71 911E, why does it have carbs? "E" stands for eninspritze which means fuel injection. That started on "E" cars, I believe, in 1969. I bought a new 1969 911E that year, and it was so equipped. ...

@acahoon – It appears several of the body parts are are from a later model G series vehicle and the dash photo looks like the insignia reads 911 S not E ? Can you clarify or explain anything regarding the source of the different body parts and the cars history ? Thanks, Art Cahoon (904)502-2626 ...
The car came to me in the current body panel configuration as you see in the pics. I do not know any history of at what point they were changed. As for the glove box emblem it was removed because it was in correct after pics where taken. There is no emblem on the glove box currently. I apologize for missing that detail in the pic.
