OVERVIEW
This 1983 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler has been bobbed and equipped with an updated frame cut to the length of a CJ-6. It draws power from a 350ci Chevrolet V8 backed by a rebuilt TH400 three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Features include power steering, power front disc brakes, a removable soft top, a bikini top, steel half doors, a pair of full steel doors with functional glass, Hankook mud terrain tires, and a lift kit. Finished in Forest Green over a tan Bestop canvas interior, this CJ-8 Scrambler comes with a jerry can, a CARFAX report, service and maintenance records, and a clear Georgia title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The exterior was refinished two years ago in Forest Green. Features include tube bumpers, a front grille guard, black wheel flares, a folding windshield, dual mirrors, a removable full soft top, a bikini top, steel half doors, steel full doors, tube side steps, and a trailer hitch. The seller states that a couple of small paint bubbles are present on the exterior.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of eight-hole 17-inch Pro Comp wheels is wrapped in Hankook Dynapro MT 315/70/17 radial tires. The seller states that fewer than 2,000 miles have been logged on the tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The front bucket seats and the rear seat are upholstered in tan Bestop all-weather canvas. Features include power steering, power brakes, floor-mounted transfer case and B&M automatic transmission shifters, and a green roll bar. The steel full doors are equipped with functional windows. The seller states that this Jeep does not have a heater.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
An 85-mph speedometer with an integrated fuel gauge and temperature gauge, and additional gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure are located ahead of the driver. The seller states that the fuel gauge does not work consistently. The last reported mileage figure of 1,000 was logged on the CARFAX report in February 2022.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a Chevrolet Camaro-sourced 350ci V8 and backed by a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. According to the seller, the transmission was rebuilt in February 2021. Engine bay features include chrome Chevrolet valve covers, an aluminum Edelbrock intake manifold, an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, a chrome Edelbrock air cleaner, and dual electric fans. A new starter and a new flex plate was installed in February 2021; a tune-up was performed in July 2022.

Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. The brakes were adjusted in July 2022 and the locking hubs and radiator were serviced in December 2022. A single exhaust system exits at the rear. The seller states that slight surface rust is present on the undercarriage.

As the auction comes close to the end, I wanted to pass along that In the late 1980’s Jeep Scramblers were bobbed, many Jeep enthusiasts called them the “Ultimate Trail Rig”.. The reason Scramblers were "Bobbed" was to make them better Off-Road handling with a longer wheel base than the CJ-5 and the CJ-7. The additional bed was cut off so that it does not drag while 4 wheeling. The Scrambler still has additional back seat leg room and extra cargo room behind the rear seat. Happy Bidding!
