Vehicle Story

This 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Sport Coupe is finished in Cranberry Red with a black vinyl roof over a black interior. Originally sold new in Florida, it was acquired by its third and current owner three years ago in San Diego, California. Powered by a 350ci Turbo-Fire V8 and a three-speed Turbo Hydromatic automatic transmission, this Monte Carlo is now offered with original chrome, glass, interior, trim, and radio with a clean California title.

The body was refinished in its original code 75 Cranberry Red under prior ownership in 2013. As delivered from the factory, this Monte Carlo was equipped with a white vinyl top and fender skirts with red painted hub caps. During the restoration, the top was replaced with a black vinyl top, and the fender skirts were removed, opting in favor of NOS rear wheel opening moldings.  Photos in the gallery show the current condition of the finish and the black vinyl top.

A set of Kelsey-Hayes Chevrolet Rally wheels with bright stainless trim rings and center caps wear BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s.  Stopping power is provided by power disc brakes in the front and drums in the rear.

The interior sports Strato Bucket Seats trimmed in black vinyl accented with woodgrain trim on the dashboard and steering wheel. Factory features include factory air conditioning, power steering, tinted windows, dual exhaust, and console-mounted staple shifter. This vehicle is one of 98 known examples equipped with an electronic trunk release. Other additions include a  Bluetooth enabled stereo mounted in an aftermarket console with two Rockford Fosgate amplifiers and a subwoofer mounted in the trunk. The installation did not create any screw holes anywhere in the body, and the original radio remains in the dash.

The five-digit odometer reads 69,236 miles, of which 3,000 were added by the seller.

Power is provided by a matching-numbers 350ci Turbo-Fire V8 with a Rochester carburetor factory rated at 300hp, while power is transferred through a 3-speed Turbo Hydromatic automatic transmission. A valve job has been performed along with a replacement of the radiator. In addition, an oil change and tune-up were performed in the fall of 2020.

Additional photos of the undercarriage are shown in the gallery.

The owner states this car has been garaged its entire life and carries a significant amount of documentation of ownership and maintenance performed. Work carried out includes cleaning and rebuilding the alternator, replacing the transmission pan gasket and filter, and replacing front and rear coil springs. A detailed report on the car's history is included in the sale, with photos available in the gallery.

@ross123 – original send me your email and ill send u a 22 page pdf that tells the story of the car in great detail. ...

I’m confused. I posted bid for car just prior to bid ending and then the time increased. Is this standard practice? If the bid time keeps increasing what’s the use of bidding. What’s the reserve of any?
