OVERVIEW
This restored 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air four-door sedan is powered by an unmodified 235ci inline-six mated to a three-speed manual transmission. It was California-owned before being transported to Oklahoma under current ownership and comes with chrome accents, whitewall tires, a tow hitch, a radio, and rear wheel skirts. Finished in two-tone yellow and white over a gray cloth interior, this first-generation Bel Air comes with restoration documentation, an owner's manual, a shop manual, and a clear California title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The yellow and white exterior was restored under prior ownership. Exterior features include chrome brightwork, dual mirrors, rear fender accents, wheel skirts, passenger-side curb feelers, and a rear bumper-mounted tow hitch.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Steel wheels with full covers are wrapped in whitewall tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is trimmed with dual gray cloth bench seats along with black carpeting and a black headliner. Amenities include lap belts, vent windows, and a passenger window-mounted swamp cooler. The seller states that the heater is inoperative and that the radio powers up but does not produce sound.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 110-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 5,940 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The unmodified 235ci inline-six is powered by a six-volt electrical system. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The sale includes restoration documentation, an owner's manual, and a shop manual.

@Megj49 – Beautiful car!! ...
Thank you
Beautiful car!!
@rcopo69 – With what you are saying the batteries would be in parallel, not in series. If it was tied together in series anyway, & the car is still the original 6 volt system, it would be burning up any electrical items. A parallel connection would still keep both 6 volt batteries at 6 volts. I'm assuming the old teardrop trailer was a 6 volt system too. Thanks again for getting back with me. ...
Look buddy, I’m not looking to have your school me or anything if you can’t understand what I’m telling you quit texting me please

@BDowd – To help with the teardrop trailer that it used to have i’ve been told it’s a nice addition to the car. It’s an aftermarket thing that they put on it for the trailer and they run them in series for a number of reasons why I don’t know. ...

@BDowd – We inherited the car we want to sell the car. We don’t know a whole lot about the car other than paperwork and what you see don’t understand the two batteries don’t know why it looks like it may have seal beams. I don’t know if it’s some if they’re 6 V or 12 V lights I know it’s got a generator not an alternator it looks like it may have a 6 V starter. I don’t know I know it used to tall a teardrop trailer but we don’t have that. ...

It has 26 V batteries with a switch that does something it’s got a generator not an alternator that’s all I know
@rcopo69 – I see many of the same questions I have, & no answer. Why two batteries ?? Was it changed from the original 6 volt system to a 12 volt system, as many have done over the years. It's usually done with one 12 volt battery, but you can get the same results by putting two 6 volt batteries in series, to keep the 6 volt look under the hood. You don't have a good front shot of the engine, so I can't see if it an alternator or generator, which there are GM 12 volt generators too, since in 1955, Chevrolet went to 12 volt systems, & still used 12 volt generators until the 1960's. Look on the generator tag, voltage regulator, sealed beams or bulbs to see if they're 12 volts, or physically trace back the battery cables to see if the positive side of one battery is hooked up to the negative side of the other battery. Like I said, that make 12 volts too !! ...
It has a series-parallel switch. Looks like model b. It’s an Orpin series parallel switch.
26 V batteries sealed means generator not alternator I believe
It has a generator no I don’t know alternator and it does have seal beams
