Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle two-door hardtop was treated to a rotisserie restoration under prior ownership. It receives power from a 454ci big-block V8 linked with a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and a 3.73:1 Positraction rear end. Equipment includes power steering, power front disc brakes, 15-inch Magnum 500-style wheels, a center console, a tilt steering wheel, a dual exhaust system, and SS badging. Finished in Cortez Silver with black stripes over a black vinyl interior, this second-generation Chevelle is now offered with the removed original 3.32:1 gears and a clear Montana title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The Cortez Silver exterior features black accent stripes on the hood and trunk lid, directional signals on the front fenders, chrome brightwork, hood retention pins, SS fender badging, dual mirrors, and a dual exhaust system. The seller notes that the cowl-induction hood works intermittently. They have posted a walk-around video below.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

The 15-inch Magnum 500-style wheels with polished trim rings are wrapped in 225/70 front and 275/60 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior is furnished with black vinyl bucket seats up front, a bench in the rear, and matching materials for the door panels, dash, and carpeting. Amenities include carpeted floor mats, a center console with a horseshoe shifter, an AM radio, tinted glass, and a tilt steering column.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer surrounded by a 7K-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, and voltage. The reportedly accurate five-digit analog odometer reads 25,545 miles. Two aftermarket meters below the dashboard display additional information.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

According to the seller, the original 454ci big-block V8 was rated at 450 horsepower. It received an oil change in the fall of 2022; the Optima battery was installed in March 2023. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and an upgraded 3.73:1 Positraction rear end.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Steering is power-assisted. Stopping is performed by power disc brakes up front and drums in the rear.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The sale includes the car’s removed original 3.32:1 rear-end gears. The trim tag decodes as follows:

70: Model Year 1970

OS: Manufactured in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada

13437: Two-Door 5-Passenger Sport Coupe

34: Paint Code - Medium Turquoise Metallic

751: Black Roma Cloth Interior Trim

M35: Powerglide Transmission

@123456 – Is this a number matching car? ...

No, it is not numbers matching. . If it were a numbers matching car , it would be priced in the $150,000 to $ 200, 000 range. A survey of the recent Mecum and Barrett-Jackson auctions will verify that. Mecum Jan 2023 sold a numbers matching car exactly like mine for $275,000. My car is a Complete rotisserie restomod- all the good looks , performance , new paint and performance. A classic example of muscles cars. !! Thanks for your question.

@RebelPatriot – If the trim tag is correct and it came with a powerglide it can’t be an original LS 6 car. ...

You are correct it is not the original LS6 motor to my 70 Chevelle. I have documentation that it is a LS6 motor and 700R4 automatic transmission.

@musselcarz – Hi, Is there any paperwork to document this is the original engine? ...

I apologize for the delayed response in answering your question regarding my 70 Chevelle. I had difficulty navigating the website and their responses to me in order to answer questions. The paper work I have from the previous owner states it is a LS6 450 big block with a 700R4 automatic transmission which is not original to the car . Im trying to tract down the photo of the engine block tag number which verifies it is a LS6 engine. Thanks for your inquiry. I am a collector not a dealer. My email address is DrDennisCambria @gmail.com if you would like to correspond directly.
