340-Powered 1969 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible

OVERVIEW

This 1969 Plymouth Barracuda convertible features an upgraded 340ci V8 equipped with long tube headers, Edelbrock cylinder heads, a new fuel pump, and a four-barrel carburetor. Power is fed through a retrofitted BorgWarner four-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels and Cooper tires. Other features include power steering, power front disc brakes, and subframe connectors. Finished in yellow and equipped with a black retractable top over a black vinyl interior, this second-generation Barracuda is now offered by the selling dealer with manuals, magazines, spare parts, and an Ontario, Canada vehicle permit.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The body was reportedly repainted in its original yellow. A black retractable top covers the passenger compartment. Additional exterior features include a split grille, chrome bumpers, dual mirrors, full-width trunk trim, and a dual exhaust system.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Five-spoke Ridler wheels are wrapped in Cooper tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior is fitted with black vinyl bucket seats up front and a bench in the rear, matched to the door panels, dash, lap belts, and carpeting. Amenities include a center console, a Hurst shifter, aluminum sill plates, and rubber floor mats. The selling dealer notes that there is surface rust in the trunk, which is shown in the gallery to the right.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary factory gauges, along with a column-mounted aftermarket Sunpro 8K-rpm tachometer. The factory tachometer is inoperative. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 25,678 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The original engine was replaced with a 340ci V8, which has been upgraded with aluminum Edelbrock cylinder heads, long tube headers, and a new electric fuel pump. An oil change was performed in the fall of 2022. The original automatic transmission was swapped out for a console-shifted BorgWarner four-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the road through the 3.23:1 rear end.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Steering is power-assisted. Stopping is performed by power disc brakes up front and drums in the rear. The chassis is equipped with subframe connectors.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The sale includes manuals, magazines, and spare parts. A harmonized sales tax (HST) of 13% will be required on the final price, according to the selling dealer. For buyers in the United States, the tax can be recovered by applying for reimbursement.
