OVERVIEW
This 1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye has been with the seller for seven years and is powered by a 318ci V8 engine backed by a TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission. Features include hood scoops, a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo, and original Rallye wheels. Replaced parts include the four-barrel carburetor, brakes, master cylinder, exhaust, and heater core. Finished in white with red stripes over a black vinyl interior, this Challenger comes with a New York registration document in the seller's name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
Originally finished in metallic blue, the reportedly all-original sheet metal was repainted white with red accents. Features include chrome bumpers, a fender-mounted antenna, a driver-side mirror with a manual remote, wheel moldings, a chrome gas cap, and new reverse light bulbs. The seller states that the vehicle is rust-free, but paint chips are present in three areas, which can be seen in the gallery to the right.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of 14-inch silver Rallye wheels with gray center caps and bright trim rings is wrapped in 215/70 Douglas radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The front buckets and the rear bench seat are upholstered in black vinyl. Features include manual steering and brakes, manual windows, simulated woodgrain accents, a center console with an automatic shifter, and a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo. According to the seller, the heater core, hoses, window regulators, and guides have been replaced. In addition, seat belts have been installed. The seller notes the passenger-side sunvisor needs sewing repair and the driver-side door's armrest is worn.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 150-mph speedometer, 7K-rpm tachometer, clock, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and alternator are mounted in the simulated woodgrain-trimmed instrument panel. With 1,400 miles added during current ownership, the odometer reads 33,000 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The original 340ci engine has been replaced with a 318ci V8, which is backed by a TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission. The aluminum intake, four-barrel carburetor, and air cleaner have been replaced. The seller states that the vehicle has no mechanical issues. A New York safety inspection and an oil change were completed in October 2022.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Challenger was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. The seller states that the floor pans are solid and that the brakes, master cylinder, exhaust, upper and lower ball joints, and control arm bushings have been replaced.
