OVERVIEW
This award-winning 1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 convertible was the subject of a rotisserie restoration completed in 2017 and receives power from the original and resealed 400ci V8 mated to the rebuilt original Turbo 400 three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes power front disc brakes, power steering, power windows, air conditioning, FiTech fuel injection, and a newer dual exhaust system. Finished in red and equipped with a black power-retractable top over a black vinyl interior, this first-generation Firebird is now offered with Pontiac Historic Services (PHS) documentation, a framed magazine advertisement, the removed original parts detailed below, and a clear Michigan title in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
As part of the restoration, the steel body was resprayed red and the front bumper, windshield, window trim, driver-side mirror, power-operated black soft top, and dual exhaust system were replaced. Additional exterior features include a scooped hood, rocker moldings, and an antenna. The seller adds that the vehicle was awarded best-in-class accolades at a show in 2022.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Rally II five-spoke 15-inch wheels are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle raised-white-letter tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is fitted with reupholstered black vinyl bucket seats up front, a reupholstered black vinyl bench in the rear, and matching materials for the door panels, dash, center console, and carpeting. Amenities include simulated woodgrain trim, Firebird-branded floor mats, power windows, factory air conditioning, tinted glass, and a trunk-mounted full-size spare.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a hood-mounted 8K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 55,999 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown. Approximately 5,000 miles have been added since the restoration was completed.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The reportedly original 400ci V8 received a variety of replacement parts and upgrades during the restoration process, including FiTech fuel injection, an aluminum Edelbrock intake, an MSD ignition system with a billet distributor, an aluminum radiator, a new heavy-duty water pump, a 60-amp alternator, a clutch fan, new seals, a new stainless steel fuel tank, and a new evaporator, drier, and condenser for the air conditioning system. Power is fed to the rear wheels via the reportedly original rebuilt Turbo 400 three-speed automatic transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Stopping power comes from power-assisted disc brakes up front and drums in the rear. The brake booster, master cylinder, steel lines, rubber hoses, pads, rotors, wheel cylinders, shoes, and drums were replaced during the restoration along with the front suspension's control arms, springs, and ball joints. The suspension is equipped with a traction bar. Steering is power-assisted.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The sale includes PHS documentation, a framed magazine advertisement, and the car’s removed original intake manifold, distributor, carburetor, fuel tank, radiator, and other parts.
