350-POWERED 1940 FORD DE LUXE CONVERTIBLE

 OVERVIEW

This frame-up-restored 1940 Ford De Luxe convertible is powered by a 350ci Chevrolet V8 engine backed by a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission. Features include Flaming River rack-and-pinion power steering, power brakes, power windows, cruise control, a power cowl vent, and a shaved trunk lid with a remote solenoid. Additional features include digital gauges, Vintage Air climate controls, a Kenwood AM/FM/cassette stereo with a trunk-mounted 10-disc CD changer, a tilt steering column, and $3,500 in Bubinga wood interior accents. Finished in Monaco Red Pearl and equipped with a black manual folding convertible top over a gray and white leather interior with red trim, this Ford comes from the selling dealer with a California Car cover and bra and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

During the restoration in 1990, the all-steel exterior was refinished in Monaco Red Pearl. Features include a removed front bumper, shaved front bumper mounting holes, a shaved hood, a power cowl vent, dual mirrors, a split windshield, a manual black vinyl convertible top, stainless side trim, black running boards, a shaved trunk lid with integrated third brake light, and a chrome rear bumper.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

The 14-inch front and 15-inch rear Billet Specialties aluminum wheels are wrapped in 195/70/R14 BFGoodrich Touring T/A front tires and 235/60/R15 BFGoodrich Radial T/A rear tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The Ford Mustang-sourced front bucket seats and the rear seat are upholstered in gray and white leather with red trim. Features include power steering and brakes, power windows, Vintage Air climate controls, a tilt steering column with an automatic transmission shifter, a three-spoke banjo steering wheel with a wood rim, a Kenwood AM/FM/cassette stereo, a trunk-mounted 10-disc CD changer, and African Bubinga wood accents that reportedly cost $3,500.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation consists of Dakota Digital gauges that include readouts for the speedometer, 8K-rpm tachometer, clock, fuel level, oil pressure, voltage, and coolant temperature. The odometer shows 19,600 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 350ci Chevrolet V8 and backed by a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission. Engine bay features include chrome valve covers, a polished aluminum intake manifold, a four-barrel carburetor, a polished aluminum oval air cleaner, chrome hose covers, and a serpentine belt engine accessory drive system.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The chassis has been modified to accept a Flaming River power rack-and-pinion assembly and a solid nine-inch Ford rear axle with Positraction. Stopping is performed by power brakes. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear.
