OVERVIEW
This 1966 Ford Mustang hardtop underwent a multi-year restoration that concluded on September 21, 2018 and was featured on the History Channel series “Rust Valley Restorers” (S1, E4) on Netflix. It is powered by a Ford Mustang Cobra 5.0-liter V8 mated to a BorgWarner five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip rear end. Equipment includes Wilwood disc brakes, 17-inch aluminum wheels, an aluminum radiator, auxiliary gauges, and a DynoTech driveshaft. Finished in metallic red over a black vinyl interior, this custom first-generation Mustang is now offered with a certificate of authenticity, an autographed glove box, and British Columbia, Canada registration.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The metallic red exterior was refinished by the father and son duo of Mike and Connor Hall for the series "Rust Valley Restorers." Subsequent to the show, the car was sold to the program's executive producer Tyson Hepburn. The aforementioned overhaul included the repair or replacement of body panels as necessary. Exterior features include chrome brightwork, newer headlights, a driver-side mirror, and newer seals. The seller notes some corrosion on the front turn signal housings and states that adjustments are needed for the hood latch and passenger-side rear window.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Chrome 17-inch multi-spoke Curtis Speed Equipment aluminum wheels are wrapped in 215/45 front and 245/40 rear General G-MAX tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is furnished with black perforated vinyl low-back bucket seats up front, a bench in the rear, and matching materials for the door panels, padded dash, headliner, and carpeting. Amenities include floor mats, lap belts, a partial roll cage by Dubs Kustoms, a Hurst custom pistol grip shifter, a stainless steel emergency brake handle, aluminum door sill plates, a heater, and an AM radio connected to an under-dash speaker. A Mustang emblem is missing from the face of the glove compartment, there are scuffs on the front kick panels, and the window cranks are missing from the rear side panels. The trunk contains a spare tire; the seller notes that the trunk seal molding is detached.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a speedometer, a column-mounted AutoMeter tachometer, and auxiliary gauges that show the fuel level, oil pressure, voltage, and coolant temperature. Auxiliary AutoMeter coolant temperature and oil pressure gauges are mounted under the center of the dash. The odometer reads 164 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown. The seller notes that the plastic gauge lens faces show some wear.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The crate-sourced 5.0-liter Ford Mustang Cobra V8 reportedly dates to 2010 and was rated at 350 horsepower. Upgrades to the engine bay include a ProCharger air filter, headers, billet accessories, an aluminum radiator, an electric fan, and aluminum strut tower links. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a BorgWarner manual transmission, heavy-duty DynoTech driveshaft, and a nine-inch limited-slip rear axle. The seller notes corrosion on the exhaust headers and minor cosmetic chips on the oil pan.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Stopping power comes from four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes.
Includes Global West suspension with a frame stiffening kit.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The sale includes a certificate of authenticity and an autographed glove box.
