OVERVIEW
This restomod 1971 Chevrolet Nova SS tribute receives power from a late-model 5.7-liter V8 combined with a Muncie four-speed manual transmission. Its performance-built drivetrain was upgraded with equipment that includes an Edelbrock intake, Dart cast-aluminum heads, an HEI distributor, all-new wiring and a Holley 750cfm carburetor. Finished in two-tone blue and white over a black vinyl interior, this third-generation Nova is now offered with a clear Virginia title in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
This Nova two-door hardtop’s restoration encompassed a fresh repaint in blue with a white painted top in place of the car’s original color scheme of Burnt Orange and Antique White. Exterior features include chrome bumpers, SS badging, bodyside moldings, dual side-view mirrors, and a dual exhaust system.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Steel 15-inch Rally wheels with polished trim rings are wrapped in 235/60-sized Cooper Cobra Radial G/T raised-white-letter tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin features black vinyl bucket seats up front and a bench in the rear complemented by matching door panels, dash, and carpeting. Amenities include lap belts, heater, Hurst shifter, and courtesy lighting. The Clarion AM/FM/cassette stereo is not connected to the single dash-mounted speaker; both are reportedly inoperative.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer and a Shiftworks in-dash 7K-rpm tachometer and fuel level gauge, with newer bulbs installed throughout. Aftermarket AutoMeter gauges have been mounted beneath the dash and display the oil pressure, voltage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 7,138 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The upgraded General Motors 5.7-liter V8 showing a casting date of May 20, 1999 was sourced from a later-model vehicle. Upgrades include Dart Machinery 180cc cast-aluminum heads, chrome valve covers, Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake, Holley four-barrel 750cfm carburetor, HEI distributor, MSD 8.5mm spark plug wires, and new heater core and radiator overflow tank. The wiring was replaced with a kit from American Autowire which included the fuse panel, neutral safety switch assembly, turn signal switch, horn, glove box light, trunk light, Hurst backup reverse light switch and new bulbs. An oil change was performed within the last 500 miles per the seller. While the car was originally equipped with an automatic transmission, a Muncie four-speed manual featuring a 7/8-inch countershaft bore and 6207-type front bearings has been installed. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an 8.5-inch 10-bolt rear axle.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Steering is power-assisted, and braking comes from power-assisted discs up front and drums in the rear. Photos showing the underside are available in the photos on the right.
