Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1959 Chevrolet Apache pickup received a frame-off restoration under prior ownership and has been upgraded with a tonneau cover, American Racing wheels, front disc brakes, a Mustang II independent front suspension, a Flowmaster dual exhaust system, and a Bluetooth-enabled stereo system with Kicker speakers. Power comes from a 235ci Thriftmaster inline-six that received recent work to the fuel system and transfers power rearward through a Saginaw three-speed manual transmission. Finished in turquoise over a black vinyl interior, this Apache is now offered with restoration documentation, service records, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The turquoise exterior finish was applied as part of a frame-off restoration in 2000. Features include quad headlights, chrome brightwork, dual mirrors, and a Flowmaster dual exhaust system. The interior of the bed is lined with wood planks; the bed itself is covered by a roll-up vinyl tonneau cover.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Polished aluminum American Racing wheels are wrapped in newer Cooper Cobra Radial G/T raised-white-letter tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior of the cab is fitted with a newer black vinyl bench, which coordinates with the neutral vinyl door panels, black carpeting, and newer floor mats. An aftermarket center console with cup holders has been added. The custom audio system consists of a Classic Car Stereo head unit with Bluetooth connectivity and newer Kicker speakers.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 53,344 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The Thriftmaster 235ci inline-six received an oil change within the last six months per the seller and reportedly runs well. Service under the seller’s ownership includes the installation of a new fuel tank and sending unit, a fuel pump rebuild, a new clutch, a new battery, and a carburetor rebuild. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a column-shifted Saginaw three-speed manual transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The front end uses a Ford Mustang II clip. Recent chassis work includes the replacement of the rear differential seal, upper ball joints, and driveshaft seal. Stopping power comes from Chevrolet Camaro-sourced front disc brakes and drums in the rear.
