Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1947 Ford Super Deluxe Sedan is powered by a 230ci flathead V8 engine backed by a three-speed manual transmission. Features include finned aluminum Edelbrock performance heads, a dual-carburetor Fenton intake manifold, an Offenhauser generator mount, and custom pinstriping. Finished in black over a tan cloth and vinyl interior, this 1947 Ford Super Deluxe Sedan comes from the selling dealer with previously installed headliner material and a clear California title.

EXTERIOR - FEATURES

The black exterior features chrome bumpers, stainless steel grille trim, a cowl vent, accent pinstriping, a split windshield, quad rearview mirrors, stainless bodyside trim, fender trim, and dual taillights with blue dots. The selling dealer states that the rear driver-side window has a crack that does not go through the laminate and does not allow water to pass through it. There are no known rust issues, but there are cracks in the body filler on the driver-side rocker as well as light scratches on the front fenders. A walk-around video can be seen below.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

The red 15-inch wheels are equipped with bright trim rings and 195/65 Bridgestone Ecopia EP20 front and 205/75 Milestar Touring SE rear radial tires.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The front bench seat and the rear seat are upholstered in tan cloth and vinyl. Features include manual steering and brakes, manual windows,  a column-mounted shifter, a cream steering wheel with a chrome horn ring, a black dashboard with accent pinstriping and cream trim, a heater, and an AM radio. The selling dealer states that a headliner is not currently installed, but all the support rods for it are in place.

INTERIOR - GAUGES

A 100-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, battery, oil pressure, and coolant temperature are located ahead of the driver. An aftermarket Stewart Warner vacuum gauge is mounted under the dashboard. The odometer reads 68,018 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 230ci flathead V8 engine and backed by a three-speed manual transmission. Features include finned aluminum Edelbrock performance heads, a dual-carburetor Fenton intake manifold, a finned aluminum fuel distribution block with a fuel pressure gauge, an Offenhauser generator mount, chrome air cleaners, an electric fuel pump, and a six-volt electrical system. The selling dealer states that the oil has been changed within the last year.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This 1947 Ford Sedan was factory-equipped with a solid front axle and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by manual four-wheel drums. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear. The selling dealer states that the front brakes have been replaced within the last year. They also note that the rear axle makes a noise in third gear, but that the car drives well overall.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

Previously installed headliner material will be included with the sale.

Found another vehicle - am canceling my bid ! REPETER

@DanReedAutos – There are not currently windshield wipers on the vehicle but the nubs where they would mount are still there. There is no wiper motor so they are inactive at present. I don't have any information on the rebuild as it was completed under prior ownership. Everything that I know is from what I can see. It does have an electric fuel pump and a fuel pressure gauge that are both in good working order. It also has a push button start. Under normal driving conditions it does not overheat at all. The fuel gauge is the only one that I trust to be truly accurate and in good working order. The rear end has a noise that is present under load in 3rd gear. The exhaust sounds great - like a real hot rod - and drives very well for its age. I will open the package that the headliner is in and add photos for you. ...

Mooney the way we used to make the Flatties run cool was to pull the water pumps and grind every other fin off of the impeller it will throw more water then we would add a shroud problem solved
