OVERVIEW
This 1965 Amphicar Model 770 is a land-and-sea-capable convertible powered by a 1,147cc Triumph inline-four mated to a Hermes four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes marine lighting, chrome brightwork, a refurbished interior, and woodgrain flooring. Finished in Fjord Green and equipped with a white vinyl retractable top over a two-tone yellow and white vinyl interior, this Amphicar is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The exterior was recoated in Fjord Green. Features include chrome brightwork, marine navigation lights, twin propellers, an exhaust outlet, an antenna, and rear bumperettes.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Steel 13-inch wheels with chrome center caps are wrapped in wide-whitewall radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is fitted with reupholstered yellow and white vinyl front and rear benches. The floor is lined with woodgrain trim. Amenities include elastic map pockets, a glove compartment, and vent windows.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 90-mph speedometer, a clock, and factory gauges for the coolant temperature and fuel level. An iEquus temperature gauge is mounted under the dash. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 23,762 miles, but the true mileage on this amphibious vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The 1,147cc Triumph OHV inline-four uses a Solex carburetor and a 12-volt electrical system. When new, it was rated at 43 horsepower and 61 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels or propellers via a Hermes four-speed manual transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
On-road stopping power comes from four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes.
