OVERVIEW
This 1979 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 4x4 received a repaint, a refurbished interior, and later-model 17-inch aluminum wheels as part of a refresh and was imported to Miami, Florida under the seller’s ownership. Features include power windows, air conditioning, a center console, and new Bridgestone tires. It is powered by an overhauled 2F 4.2-liter inline-six mated to a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Finished in red and cream over a two-tone gray fabric and black vinyl interior, this FJ40 is now offered by a repeat AutoHunter seller with customs documents, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) paperwork, an invoice, and a foreign title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
After rusted components were replaced, the body was recoated in red and the roof was repainted cream. Exterior features include a mesh grille insert, dual mirrors, Toyota-branded mud flaps, a rear-mounted spare tire, and a rear step bumper.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Later-model Toyota Land Cruiser 17-inch aluminum wheels are wrapped in new Bridgestone Dueler A/T tires that reportedly have 60 percent of their tread left.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is fitted with two-tone gray cloth bucket seats up front, side-mounted black vinyl jump seats in the back, and beige carpeting throughout. Features include a heater, air conditioning, a passenger-side grab-handle, power windows, tinted glass, and a JVC AM/FM/CD audio system.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 160-km/h speedometer and supporting gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 216,225 kilometers (134,356 miles); the true kilometrage on the chassis is unknown. The seller notes that the gauges have intermittent fuse issues.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The overhauled 2F 4.2-liter inline-six directs power to all four wheels via a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The seller notes that the vehicle was serviced before being listed on AutoHunter and that the fluids were changed and all the filters were replaced.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The seller reports replacement flooring was installed where corrosion was previously present.
