OVERVIEW
This award-winning 1965 Ford Mustang fastback underwent a multi-year restoration that was completed in 2015. It is powered by a rebuilt, date-correct 289ci V8 mated to a date-correct Toploader four-speed manual transmission and features 14-inch styled steel wheels, an AM radio, power steering, and front disc brakes. Finished in Honey Gold over a Black vinyl interior, this first-generation Mustang is now offered with documentation, service records, awards, and an Ontario, Canada vehicle permit in the seller's name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
As part of the restoration completed under the seller’s ownership, the body was resprayed in the original Honey Gold (color code C) and topped with a clear coat. It features chrome brightwork, a driver-side mirror, quarter window louvers, and trumpet-style dual exhaust outlets. The seller states that there are two scratches on the body currently.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Styled steel 14-inch wheels are wrapped in 185/75 Uniroyal Tiger Paw whitewall tires that were purchased in September 2022.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The 2+2 interior is fitted with Black (26) vinyl bucket seats up front, a bench in the rear, and matching materials for the door panels, dash, center console, and carpeting. Amenities include an alarm system, tinted windows, and a push-button AM radio. The vinyl-lined trunk contains a spare tire.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a sweeping 120-mph speedometer, auxiliary readouts for the fuel level and coolant temperature, and the Rally Pac's 6K-rpm tachometer and clock. The odometer reads 6,245 miles.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The reportedly date-correct, A-code 289ci V8 was rebuilt, balanced, blueprinted, and equipped with performance upgrades. Recent service includes the replacement of the engine oil and filter in January 2023. Power is sent to the back wheels via a reportedly date-correct Toploader four-speed manual transmission and a 3.0:1 rear end.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The master cylinder has been replaced and a proportioning valve has been installed. Stopping power comes from disc brakes up front and drums in the rear. Steering is power-assisted. In January 2023, the undercarriage was cleaned and the suspension was lubricated.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
According to the seller, this Mustang has received high honors at various shows including a gold award at a Mustang Club of America (MCA) Grand National Mustang Show. The sale includes awards, a notebook of build documentation, and service records.
