1994 MAZDA RX-7 TOURING PACKAGE 5-SPEED

OVERVIEW

This two-owner 1994 Mazda RX-7 with the Touring Package has been owned by the seller for 26 years and is powered by a rebuilt twin-turbocharged 1.3-liter Wankel two-rotor engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. EXTERIOR – FEATURES

This RX-7 was purchased by the seller from its original owner in 1998 with fewer than 5,000 miles on the odometer and has been garage-kept and driven in the summer for the last 26 years. The Montego Blue Metallic body underwent complete refurbishment including a repaint, paint protection film application, sunroof seal replacement, door handle replacement, windshield replacement, paint correction, and a nine-year ceramic coating in recent years. Exterior features include an aftermarket front nose cone and spoiler, pop-up headlights, fog lamps, color-keyed mirror caps, a power sunroof, a rear window wiper, a manually adjustable radio antenna, and a polished exhaust outlet.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Aluminum 16-inch five-spoke wheels are wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact tires. The newer rear tires have accrued approximately 10,000 miles since installation.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cockpit is fitted with tan leather bucket seats, matched to the door panels, carpeting, and Lloyd floor mats. Amenities include cruise control, power windows, recharged R-134a air conditioning, and a Bose Acoustic Wave AM/FM/CD/cassette radio with a rebuilt amplifier. The seller notes that the air blower has been deleted. In addition, the parking brake passed inspection and holds the car without dragging on either side, but the rear driver-side parking brake does not fully engage while the rear passenger-side parking brake is fully engaged.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a centrally mounted 9K-rpm tachometer; a 180-mph speedometer; auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure; a Defi boost gauge; and an AutoMeter column-mounted boost gauge. The digital odometer reads 105,267 miles, which is in line with the most recent figure of 105,064 miles logged on the CARFAX report in October 2022. According to the seller, the mileage will be different once the vehicle is sold because the car is still being driven daily.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The twin-turbocharged 1.3-liter Wankel two-rotor engine was rebuilt by KDR Performance in Pennsylvania at 54,111 miles. During the rebuild, it received a new Greddy intercooler and new seals, 850cc injectors, apex seals, springs, O-rings, gaskets, and hoses. In addition, the air separator tank (AST) was deleted. Updates made within the last year include the removal of the air blower, the installation of new silicone radiator hoses, a radiator flush, the installation of new spark plugs and 10mm spark plug wires, the replacement of the engine ground wire, and the addition of a new pulley system that includes a lightweight alternator pulley, water pump pulley, idler pulley, and belts.

The motor has been rated at 326 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque at 13 pounds of boost in its current configuration. There are over 50 service records on the CARFAX report. Recent service items include an oil change in October 2022, thermostat replacement and air conditioning system service in June 2022, battery replacement in 2021, and work in 2020 which included servicing the rear differential, flushing the power steering fluid and clutch fluid, replacement of the fuel filter, and more. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

According to the seller, that was minor and caused by road debris hitting the front spoiler but was addressed in the body and paintwork recently completed. Safety and emissions inspections were conducted in October 2022.
