OVERVIEW
This custom-built 1940 Chevrolet two-door sedan has been with the current owner for 40 years. It is powered by a crate-sourced 350ci small-block V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. In 1996, a restoration was carried out that added modern features including front disc brakes, power rack-and-pinion steering, Edelbrock performance upgrades, a dual exhaust system, a refurbished interior, and air conditioning. Finished in red over a two-tone gray cloth interior, this Chevrolet is offered on consignment by the selling dealer and comes with a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The all-steel exterior was repainted red during the 1996 restoration. Exterior features include chrome brightwork, a hood ornament, a split windshield, dual side mirrors, running boards, and a dual exhaust system.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Aluminum 15-inch wheels with bowtie-branded center caps are wrapped in Michelin tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior has two-tone gray cloth bench seats and matching door panels, dash, and carpeting. Amenities include bowtie embroidery on the headrests, air conditioning, a tilt-adjustable steering column, and a carpeted trunk.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
The Classic Instruments gauges include a 140-mph speedometer along with supporting gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The replacement five-digit mechanical odometer reads 915 miles, which the selling dealer believes to be the mileage added since the upgraded engine was installed.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The crate-sourced 350ci small-block V8 has been upgraded with a four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock aluminum intake, a mild camshaft, performance headers, and free-flowing exhaust. The electrical system has been modernized to a 12-volt alternator setup with a rear-mounted battery. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. The most recent engine service was performed in July 2022.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Chassis upgrades include power rack-and-pinion steering and hydraulic brakes with discs up front and drums in the rear. The suspension uses a combination of coils and leaf springs as well as newer shock absorbers all around.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
A $125 dealer fee will be added to the purchase price. The selling dealer has provided a video with a start-up, exterior details, interior features, and footage of the vehicle at idle.
