OVERVIEW

This 1981 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am SE is powered by a Pontiac 301ci V8 backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. In 1981, out of 33,493 Trans Ams produced, only 1,160 were powered by the naturally aspirated 301 engine combined with the Y84 Special Edition package and T-tops. The exterior of this Trans Am is reportedly wearing the original factory-applied black finish. Features include color-keyed bumpers, a front spoiler, a Shaker hood with engine size decals, gold hood bird and SE pinstripes, color-keyed sport mirror caps with a manual driver-side remote, side impact moldings, removable tinted glass roof panels, a heated rear window, and a rear spoiler. The selling dealer states that the original finish on this Firebird shows fading and scratches. The T-top seals are in excellent condition and the tops do not leak.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 15-inch cast aluminum gold snowflake wheels is wrapped in Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 raised-white-letter radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The front bucket seats and the rear seat are upholstered in black leather with a kit from Legendary Auto Interiors. Features include power brakes and steering, a center console with an automatic shifter, manual windows, a black three-spoke steering wheel, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, gold accent trim, a heated rear window, and air conditioning.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

The instrument panel consists of an 85-mph speedometer and a 6,000-rpm tachometer with an integrated clock plus gauges for the fuel level, battery, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The odometer reads 22,622 miles, which the selling dealer reports to be the actual documented mileage per the 21,920 that was logged on the CARFAX report in October 2019.

Power is provided by a Pontiac 301ci V8 and backed by a three-speed automatic transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Trans Am was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. A full-length exhaust system exits at the rear through quad chrome tips.
