ONE-FAMILY-OWNED 1981 FORD F-100 XLT

OVERVIEW

This 1981 Ford F-100 XLT has been in the same family since new. It is powered by a rebuilt 300cid inline six-cylinder engine backed by a rebuilt three-speed automatic transmission. Features include power steering and brakes, air conditioning, a Pioneer digital AM/FM stereo, a Pace Edwards tonneau cover, a rear roll pan, and newer exterior trim and interior restoration parts. Finished in black over a black vinyl and red cloth interior, this F-100 comes with an original owner’s manual, receipts, the removed original front trim pieces and wheel covers, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear title in the seller's name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

Originally finished in silver, the body was stripped to bare metal and repainted black in 2008. A new grille, headlight doors, and mirrors were installed in 2010; a new hood was painted and put on in 2015. Features include a chrome front bumper, a long fleetside pickup box with a Pace Edwards Full-Metal JackRabbit tonneau cover, a black spray-in bedliner, a Viper security system, replacement taillights, a color-keyed rear roll pan, and a hitch receiver. The seller states that the clear coat on the bed rails and a couple of areas on the tailgate need to be touched up.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of chrome 20” x 8.5” Vision Wheel 141 Legend 5 wheels is wrapped in new 275/45R20 Yokohama Parada Spec-X radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The bench seat has a custom black vinyl and red cloth cover. The seller states that the interior door panels, headliner, dash cap, window channels, and door seals and trim were installed in 1999; the carpeting, heat shield, Grant steering wheel, and remote-controlled Pioneer digital AM/FM/iPod stereo were installed in 2008. Additional features include manual windows, power steering, air conditioning, and new door and window weatherstripping. According to the seller, the rear window tint film is loose in one corner and there is a small crack in the dash cap.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

An 85-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, and battery are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 82,863 miles, which the seller reports to be accurate. The last mileage figure of 73,050 was logged in the CARFAX report on March 14, 2017.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 300cid inline six-cylinder engine that received a long-block rebuild in 2012 when the truck had approximately 66,000 miles on it. It comes equipped with Hooker headers and is backed by a rebuilt three-speed automatic transmission that was installed in 2009. A new starter and water pump were installed in 2018. A new carburetor, fuel tank, battery, electronic ignition module, and electric fuel pump were put in the truck in 2023. Additionally, an oil change was completed in April 2023.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This F-100 was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. A single Flowmaster exhaust system was installed in 1999. The seller states that the bushings on the front radius arms were replaced in 2018.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The CARFAX report starts on November 24, 1980 and shows an accident-free history with ownership in Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas. The removed original hub caps and front trim pieces, the owner’s manual, and the receipts for repairs, replacement parts, and the engine rebuild will be included with the purchase of the truck.
