Reserve Removed: 55-Years-Owned 1960 Chevrolet Corvette

OVERVIEW

This restored two-owner 1960 Chevrolet Corvette was previously owned by Nino Carbé, a Sicilian-born background and storyboard artist who contributed to Disney films such as Fantasia, Bambi, and Pinocchio as well as Woody Woodpecker and Chilly Willy cartoons from Walter Lantz Productions. It has been owned by Carbé's family for 55 years and received over $8,000 in repairs and upgrades in 2022. It is powered by a replacement 283cid V8 Corvette engine backed by a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. Features include a removable body-color hardtop and full spinner hub caps. Finished in Ermine White over a light blue vinyl interior, this C1 Corvette comes with an owner’s manual, restoration paperwork, and a clear title in the seller's name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The exterior was refinished in the original color of Ermine White in 2010. Features include chrome bumpers and a chrome grille, a driver-side mirror, a color-keyed convertible top boot, a rear-mounted antenna, and a color-matched removable hardtop. The front bumper shows minor pitting. A professional detailing was completed in May 2023. According to the seller, one of the pictures in the gallery to the right shows this Corvette in the Gene Autry Museum of the American West's Route 66 exhibit, where it was the centerpiece for six months in 2014.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of Ermine White 15-inch wheels with full spinner hubcaps is wrapped in 205/75R15 Hankook radial tires that were installed and balanced in 2022.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The bucket seats, door panels, and trim are upholstered in light blue vinyl. Features include a floor-mounted automatic transmission shifter, an inoperative AM radio, manual steering and brakes, and a light blue dashboard pad and passenger-side grab handle.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 160-mph speedometer, a 7,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and battery are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 45,128 miles, which the seller states is accurate.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a replacement 283cid V8 Corvette engine and backed by a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. The seller states that the engine was replaced in 1985 and has logged 15,000-20,000 miles since being installed. An oil change was completed, all belts and hoses were replaced, the carburetor was rebuilt, and a new heater core, radiator, and battery were installed as part of a reportedly $8,000 service in 2022.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Corvette was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by manual four-wheel drums. A dual exhaust system exits through the rear bumper.
