OVERVIEW
This 1992 Ford F-150 Flareside Regular Cab pickup is powered by a custom-built 557cid big-block stroker V8 that was assembled by a Virginia-based machine shop in September 2022. Upgrades include aluminum heads, Holley carburetors, and MSD ignition. Power is transferred rearward through a race-spec C6 three-speed automatic transmission. Finished in a recent metallic blue repaint and silver stripes over a gray vinyl interior, this ninth-generation F-Series truck is now offered with a clean CARFAX report and a clear title in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
Under prior ownership, the rust-free body was disassembled and the color was changed from the original Electric Red (code EG) and Silver (YN) to metallic blue. Silver accent striping was applied to the perimeter including “557” decals to indicate the upgraded engine displacement. Additional exterior features include a hood scoop, bug deflector, color-keyed front bumper, chrome grille, chrome mirror caps, side steps, window visors, and a rear roll pan.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
American Racing 15-inch polished aluminum five-spoke wheels are wrapped in 215/65 front and 295/50 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior of the cab is outfitted with a gray vinyl bench, matched to the door panels, dash, headliner, and carpeting. Amenities include a roll bar, power steering, cruise control, a floor-mounted aftermarket automatic shifter, carpeted floor mats, a radio, and a 12-volt power outlet.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes an inoperative 85-mph speedometer, a dash-mounted tachometer, a hood-mounted gauge, auxiliary under-dash gauges, and factory cluster readouts for the coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. The digital odometer is inoperative; the true mileage on the chassis is unknown. The most recent mileage figure logged in the CARFAX report in January 2001 was 154,129 miles.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The 557cid big-block stroker V8 was custom-built in the fall of 2022 by Wally’s Precision Machine Shop in Chester, Virginia to replace the truck’s original inline-six. Upgrades include aluminum heads, MSD ignition components, a tunnel ram intake, and twin Holley four-barrel carburetors. The powertrain reportedly runs well and received fresh oil, transmission fluid, and differential fluid as well as new spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, battery, and starter in May 2023. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a race-spec C6 three-speed automatic transmission and a 3.91:1 rear differential. The seller notes that the transmission retains the original shift pattern and does not have a reverse valve body. The video below shows the truck being road-tested.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Stopping comes from power brakes. The exhaust exits through dual turn-downs ahead of the rear axle. According to the seller, there is some corrosion on the exhaust pipes.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The CARFAX report begins in December 1991 and shows an accident-free history with ownership in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama over the course of the pickup’s lifetime. It also indicates that in 2005, this vehicle was registered in a county declared a flood disaster area by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
