OVERVIEW
This 1962 Ford Fairlane 500 restomod reportedly underwent an $85,000+ rotisserie restoration that was completed in 2014 and encompassed work to the chassis, powertrain, cosmetics, and interior. It is powered by a fuel-injected 347cid V8 mated to a TREMEC five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip rear end. Equipment includes power steering, power front windows, four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes, a Mustang II independent front suspension with coil-overs, a stainless steel exhaust system with electric cutouts, and 15-inch American Racing wheels. Finished in Wimbledon White over a red leather and ostrich skin interior, this custom Fairlane 500 is now offered by the selling dealer with build receipts, a dynamometer printout, and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
As part of the restoration by Horse Shoe Rustorations in Sherwood, Oregon, the exterior was stripped to bare metal and recoated in the current Wimbledon White. The weatherstripping, seals, and lighting lenses were replaced. Exterior features include quad headlights, chrome brightwork, a driver-side mirror, and dual exhaust outlets.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
American Racing 15-inch five-spoke chrome wheels are wrapped in 195/60 front and 225/50 rear Zexius XI427 radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is appointed with custom red leather seating with ostrich inserts for the front and rear benches, matched to the door panels, dash, headliner, and carpeting. The body-color dash is accented with bright trim. Amenities include billet accessories, power front windows, manual rear windows, a sound system, a custom steering wheel, lap belts, a tilt-adjustable steering column, power steering, and a Vintage Air climate control system.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
The aftermarket instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 10,000-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The analog odometer reads 2,314 miles, indicating the mileage accrued since the restoration was finished. The true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The fuel-injected 347cid small-block V8 has been upgraded with a Billet Specialties Tru Trac front-runner billet pulley system, an Edelbrock Performer RPM air-gap intake, Trick Flow aluminum heads, finned billet valve covers, a Holley carburetor, a polished alternator, a polished air conditioning compressor, an aluminum radiator, a billet overflow tank, and an electric fan. A three-inch stainless dual exhaust system with electronically controlled cutouts has been added. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted TREMEC five-speed manual transmission and a nine-inch limited-slip rear end with 3.73:1 gearing. According to the included dynamometer printout, the engine produces 438 horsepower at 5,900 rpm and 425 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Chassis highlights include Wilwood power-assisted disc brakes with a billet Wilwood master cylinder, braided brake lines, a Mustang II independent coil-over front suspension, and a four-link rear suspension.
