An inoperative 100-mph speedometer, a 6,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature are located ahead of the driver. ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a water-cooled and fuel-injected 2.1-liter flat four-cylinder engine and backed by a rebuilt four-speed manual transaxle. A new clutch and a new bushing for the transmission linkage have been installed. A safety inspection was recently completed.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Vanagon was factory-equipped with a four-wheel independent suspension and a solid rear drive transaxle. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. The exhaust exits at the rear through a single outlet.
