Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This frame-off restored 1966 Pontiac GTO is powered by a 400cid V8 engine backed by a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission with Hurst dual-gate shifter. Features include factory air conditioning, power steering and brakes, bucket seats, a center console, a Custom Auto Sound AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo, and a power antenna. Finished in Reef Turquoise with turquoise vinyl interior, this rust-free GTO is available now and comes with photos, restoration documentation, the original window sticker, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

During the frame-off restoration in 2001, the exterior was refinished in the original color of Reef Turquoise (Code K) as verified by the data tag. Features include chrome bumpers, a hood scoop, dual rearview mirrors, wheel well and rocker trim, a power antenna, GTO emblems, and rear body trim. The seller states that a paint correction and detail were completed in 2022.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of silver 14-inch Pontiac Rally II wheels is wrapped in 235/60/R14 Cooper Cobra GT radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The front bucket seats, the rear seat, rear trim, and door panels are upholstered in Turquoise vinyl (Code 220-B). This code denotes factory installed bucket seats with turquoise upholstery. Features include power steering, air conditioning, manual windows, a Custom Auto Sound AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo, and a center console-mounted Hurst dual-gauge shifter. New window cranks and vent window latches have been installed.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 120-mph speedometer and a fuel gauge are located ahead of the driver. An aftermarket coolant temperature gauge is mounted below the dashboard. With 100 miles logged during the one-year ownership, the odometer reads 55,920 miles but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 400cid V8 engine backed by a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission. The seller states that a tune up and a transmission service were completed in 2022.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This GTO is factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power upgraded front discs and rear drums. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear. A front-end alignment was completed in 2022. A rear differential fluid check was performed in 2022. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be seen in the carousel to the right.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The seller will include an album of photos and vehicle history, a list of people and companies who assisted with the restoration, the original window sticker which has been laminated, the vehicle billing history, a list of previous owners, one page of $0.37 stamps with a picture of this GTO, and a history of trophies won, and two trophies, as part of the sale.
